For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Encourage the Prayer Warriors around you.
Tonight I read Alan’s “2022 : Prayer Warriors Still Required.” I love what he said:
Dear reader, there is a myth that goes around, that prayer is work for women and old people – this scripture story busts that myth for sure. There is nothing more manly than going to battle on your knees for God, prayer is the frontline of battle against Satan. Every soldier of Christ can step up to the battle line, irrespective of age, gender or physical ability. In these perilous days the church needs all the prayer warriors we can recruit, as we march into the End Times.
Reading this made me grateful for the prayer warriors around us. By prayer warriors I mean those that pray. Those that pray regularly for others.
I look forward to going to church; not just to preach but also to hear others’ pray. I love prayer meeting. I will go to church today to the few in our prayer meeting and encourage them for being prayer warriors.
How can we encourage prayer warriors? First idea is to thank them. But when we thank them let’s keep it God centered; thank God and praise God for them and to God thank Him for raising prayer warriors! Also you can encourage them by praying with them! And praying for them! Ask for their prayer requests! You can encourage them by letting others know about the prayer warriors you have around you. Not to show them off with a spirit of bragging but as thanksgiving and an example for others. Encourage them also by sharing what prayers have been answered by God with their prayers. Many prayer warriors pray for others and for things which at times there’s no answer of whatever happened. Share to them updates!
Brothers and sisters, let’s be busy with encouraging others; and let us not forget to encourage our prayer warriors!
I am honoured to be quoted in your Lord’s Day message brother, thank you. We give all the glory and honour to Almighty God, who hears not only our words of prayer, but our very heart beat may it be in joy or sadness. I thank Him every day for prayer warriors that surround my family. May God bless our prayer warriors and lift them up in these difficult days.
Amen! How is your Lord’s Day and second day of the New Year going so far? (What’s the weather like in Scotland??)
I am watching Pastor Matthew from Glenrothes Baptist preaching on Haggai at present.
The sun is shining with a chilly wind, but it is mild for the time of year. The temperature is to fall later in the week though.

Excellent brother! We all need to pray more. Jesus is clear that we should be praying, and He will answer us.
Blessings.
I suspect we should all be prayer warriors. I pray today that I don’t forget to prayer. Nor think that I don’t have time to do so.
I prayed that for myself after your comment. Have a blessed Lord’s Day!
Going to re-post “2022 : Prayer Warriors Still Required.”
Pastor Jim, praying that your New Year is filled with the Lord’s richest blessings !! 🙂
Thanks for the good exhortation! Praying makes a difference and a little encouragement goes a long way!
Thanks for reading this! WordPress seems to be a place that at times also stir Christians to pray for others!! Hope things go smoothly for the rest of your shift, as you expected it with no surprises!!
Thanks! Things are extremely slow this afternoon…not used to that, but I’ll take it!
One of my best girlfriends is a prayer warrior. She tells me she just loves to pray for others. I knew that I wasn’t and admired her for that. I figured it was her gift God gave and not something I had from him.
We have prayer chains at churches I used to attend. It was more like a telephone tag than group prayer from what I gathered. I was on it for a short while but then took my name off because they could rarely get in touch with me (I ignored calls then because we got so many robocalls and I was busy in my sewing room) to tell me of someone needing prayer, and never shared the details only the name. Seemed silly to me so I felt useless and fruitless.
But lately, I have been needing prayer for some hard things I would go through, and also getting frustrated that there are so many sick and dying and didn’t know HOW to pray for them. I started asking God. “God, I don’t know how, but you tell us to do this! Show me how LORD. Give me a burden for this one or that one (and I would fill in their names).” One thing I can tell you, GOD ANSWERS ERNEST PRAYERS very quickly. He has proved it to me so much lately. TRUST and OBEY. One verse from the song written by John Henry Sammis (1846-1919)
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
Put it to practice to have a good prayer life yourself, for you and your family, and a Prayer Warrior for others can grow from that.
Thanks for sharing, also thanks for the lyrics and the encouragement. It seems to me knowing others have prayed for me have stirred me to pray for others. Prayer warriors are so precious!! Happy New Years!!!
Prayer is vital. Thank God for prayer warriors!!!!
Amen! So grateful! How was your Sunday???
Prayer is not only important, but necessary!
Amen! How is your day today??? Just got home an hour ago! Long day!
Good! Blessed more than I can say in a short comment! YAAY
The prayer warriors are the soldiers on the frontline and some times they become wounded so we definitely need to pray for them. Thank you for reminding us.
Well put sister! Well said!! Let’s love our prayer warriors!!
I am SO blessed to be in a church that believes in the power of prayer. We have prayer meeting every Sunday night, and a couple HUNDRED people come out to pray for one another. A new member was expressing his appreciation this morning and described our church as “church done right.” I agree!
Wow couple of hundreds in prayer meeting is an amazing number!! That’s amazing! I don’t think I typically hear the amount are in the hundreds for prayer meetings in the US! May I ask if the church attendance is In the thousands??
Nope. There are about 700 members, I think. A lot of seminary students from all over the country and all over the world, so during breaks and summer the numbers go down considerably. But most of the people who come to church also come on Sunday night. (I may have underestimated our prayer attendance.) Once a month we have a members’ meeting, also very well attended, where among other things we welcome new members. I’ve been there when they’ve welcomed over 30 new members in just one month. People leave, too, but it’s usually to go on the mission field or pastor another church.
These people are always sending out emails to all the members, asking for prayer and looking for or offering things like furniture, appliances, babysitting, rides to the airport, help moving, and meals for a sick member or a family that just had a baby, etc. As I said, it’s “church done right.” ❤
Amen and Amen.
These are encouraging words for prayer warriors. The first half of your statement of the general outlook that “prayer is work for women and old people” Is true–Prayer is WORK! But the second part is equally untrue. And yet most church members label certain people, and rightly so, as prayer warriors, while never looking into their own hearts to see what the Lord is asking them to do in the realm of intercession. So often it is left up to a handful–and small one at that–of older women while the rest sit back and expect those few to work miracles on their behalf. I can speak with experience about this as I am one of a few intercessors in our church. I feel privileged to have had this ministry conferred on me by the Lord, and whether or not others pray, I am committed to do so. But I would rather see a much larger percentage of the congregation taking on this responsibility themselves for their own sakes and relationship with the Lord. I am retired and have no family, so I can spend much more time than many people, but most could commit to a half to full hour a day even if it is divided up into several time slots. So, along with you, Jim, I would encourage people to thank the intercessors and to pray for the Lord to strengthen them physically and spiritually so they can continue to call on Him for the whole congregation and especially the pastor and leadelrship. And pray to raise up more intercessors to strengthen the ministry. God bless you.
Sister I am glad you commented. In the 20 years I have been at my church I believe in my many turns in my life, from joining the military, going to Iraq and going to seminary and ministry, it has been the older ladies who are prayer warriors that God used to protect, equip and guide me. I too wish more people prayed! Thanks for sharing that, God bless you, if you have prayers yourself, let me know!!
Yes! I am so thankful for those who faithfully pray for me and anyone who requests their prayers. Thank you, Lord!
Amen Cindy! Prayer warriors or any Christians that pray for that matter, are precious! Glad that God allow us access to Him through Jesus Christ!!
Each of needs steady encouragement to walk with Christ as prayer warriors. There are few privileges in life as fulfilling as praying for others.
