Last year I read and wrote a review of one of the early apologetics books that popularized the method of Presuppositional Apologetics that was taught by Cornelius Van Til here: Review: By What Standard? An Analysis of the Philosophy of Cornelius Van Til
Apparently the book is now available as an audiobook online! And its available for free!
It is divided by chapters too! That’s helpful for listeners.
Here’s the link: By What Standard?
Here are the chapters:
Chapter 1: “Behold, it was Leah”
Chapter 2: The Christian Philosophy of Knowledge
Chapter 3: “The Emperor Has No Clothes!”
Chapter 4: The Psychology of Religion: Integration into the Void
Chapter 5: Ethics and the Chief End of Man
Chapter 6: Apologetics and Self-Consciousness
Chapter 7: The Issue in Common Grace
Chapter 8: The Image of God and Faceless Man
Chapter 9: The Meaning of Inspiration
Chapter 10: Dictation and Inspiration
Chapter 11: The Authority of Scripture
Chapter 12: The Self-Contained God
Chapter 13: Christology and the Void
Chapter 14: How Wide a Gospel?

Wow. Thanks for sharing this pastor Jimm
You’re welcome! That reminds me did the books for your pastor arrived?
Not yet pastor. Were you able to get the tracking brother? Or ETA?
Thanks for the update. Blessings for a wonderful Thursday.
Excellent Jim! Thank you for this brother.
You are welcome! I imagine today you will begin your travels??
Things are getting busy here for sure, we have lots of driving back and forth near home then over to the Hilton Hotel overlooking the Forth Bridges on Saturday. I am tired all ready!😁
You’re gonna do GREAT!!!!!
Thank you Mandy!😁
My speech is nearly into the third draft now, which I hope will be the final draft.
Praying for you!!!!!!!
This book by Rushdoony is a great read. I find Bahnsen’s book Van Til’s Apologetic: Analysis and Reading more accessible to the average reader. Perhaps it is because I read Bahnsen’s material first or maybe it just the style of Rushdoony. Not sure. But such books are an awesome addition to one’s library; particularly, a pastors.
I have listened to a few of Rushdoony’s books on podcast while running including the Institutes of Biblical law. Sometimes the audio is a bit shoddy but overall they are audible. Didn’t know “By What Standard” was available, so thanks for the info. God Bless.
In Christ,
Kristafal
Thanks brother for your comment! I plan to reread Bahnsen’s massive work “Van Til’s Apologetics” again sometime. I do prefer Bahnsen’s style of writing over Rushdoony. Which ones of Rushdoony works did you listen to???
My most recent is Intellectual Schizophrenia: Culture, Crisis and Education (little more than halfway through), I think I already mentioned his “The Institutes of Biblical Law” (which is really a series of his lectures; although I’d like to get a copy of the written sometime when my budget allows for it). Volume 1 of his Systematic Theology was another one. I finished his lecture series on “Humanism” this past summer. And I have Roots of Reconstruction in my list of podcasts (but I haven’t started it yet). There are a few others such as Cure of Souls, Christianity and Capitalism, to name a few. These I found through my iphone’s podcast app. I’m unfamiliar with android so I don’t know if they are as readily available, but I’m sure they probably are.
By the way, I’m not sure if you are aware but you are able to get free access to all of Greg Bahnsen’s debates, his lectures and sermons at
https://www.apologiastudios.com/shows/bahnsen-university
You can sign up for free, if your not an all-access member, to get a wealth of Bahnsen material that was donated by his family.
In Christ,
Kristafal
Apologia Studios with the Bahnsen project is awesome!
Glad you like it. I bought a lot of Bahnsen’s material from Covenant Media a few years back but the treasure trove at Apologia is great.

Brother, my only comment is that this is way over my T-101 head, but I’m glad that you pastors and theologians have these resources available.
I think you already would grasp the idea in this book since you read Dr. Lisle’s book! Dr. Lisle in my opinion did a good job presenting it as simple and as logically laid out as possible, so I see this book that I posted about today is better as a “refresher” rather than an intro, which I think Dr. Lisle’s book is great for that purpose! More work on the home office today or taking it easier before the big weekend?
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I know when I’m in over my head. However, I do know I could teach Byrds 401 or Kazan 401.
RE: today
Thanks! I did my weekend grocery shopping this AM and then we took my wife’s elderly aunt out for late lunch so it’s strict couch duty from now until lights out.
How’s your Thursday starting out?

It is also available on Spotify (in the chapters)! I only found out because you shared it was free, so I thought to check Spotify, too.
