Want to read a work that looks into the amazing prophecy of Daniel 9:20-27 concerning the prediction of the coming of Christ? You might be interested in this work! The prophecy found in Daniel 9 with the exact timing of the coming of the Messiah is so amazing that I wanted to read this to see another Christian take on this glorious passage. The author L.R. Shelton Jr. is the founder of Chapel Library that preserve and spread good sound Christian classic literature cheaply and for free and here he gives take on the prophecy as a Baptist minister.
There is twelve section to this work. Beginning with an overview section two through eight is actually on one verse of the Messianic prophecy (verse 24) and the other sections covered the rest of the passage. Readers will be edified to read pages after pages of Gospel truth.
I do think this is evangelistic and the Gospel is clearly mentioned by the author. The author takes a historical interpretation of verse 27 with the seventieth week that leaves me with lots of questions. I wished he could have explained more why he took his view instead of the futurists interpretation. It does raise more questions for me. Among the questions I have is whether this view explains the timeline referring to 70 AD Temple destruction when it seems there’s some challenge of the 70th week doesn’t extend long enough to 70 AD. It also made me wonder if Shelton’s view is odd to take the 69th week being the prophecy not of Christ’s death but the beginning of his ministry.
Still I think the bulk of this book most readers no matter one’s theological persuasion. It still an amazing prophecy and there’s more Christians agree with each other about the prophecy than disagree. Edifying read.

Thanks for the great resource. Love Charles Spurgeon.
Shalom!
I finally got around to reading this realizing I was mistaken about it being by Spurgeon. Oops!
Thanks for the good review, but I can tell you’re running on fumes as you mentioned to me previously. The header info is for The Greatest Prophecy Ever Fulfilled by L.R. Shelton but the review is for The Holy Spirit Glorifying Christ by Spurgeon. Dr. Tom prescribes a full day of couch duty for Tuesday! 🧐
Wow yikes thanks for catching that mistake! I just changed it right now! Couldn’t change it earlier since I was in the mountains and the word document I saved all the reviews are on my laptop! Thanks good eye Tom and yes I was tired working on that posts scheduling it ahead of time! We stayed up trying to look at the stars with a telescope but then there was way too many clouds and midst so we didn’t see anything. How are you today?
I’ll go back and read the review. I hope you all had a good time despite not seeing the stars. Not much going on here in ROC, filed some old paperwork that had been laying around. It’s actually snowing a little bit today, no accumulation. It was snowing a little bit on Resurrection Day, too.
I think you’ll need a genuine couch duty day after your weekend and camping excursion.

I will.
A preterist interpretation of verse 27 doesn’t seem to fit
Daniel 9 is an amazing prophecy in the Bible
This prophetic fulfillment shows the Bible is truly from God for who else can predict such things in such details?
