For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Offer to babysit to a Parent at Church.
I figure this might be a good idea with mother’s day in May.
Sometimes moms need a break. Sometimes a married couple need some time together to sort things out with each other. It be a good idea to offer you can watch the kids.
Of course be wise about it. Ask a couple but also realize its ok they say no. Don’t take it personally, the goal is to serve. But also talk to the parents not only when but also what they might want you to do with the kids (every family have preferences depending on kids age).
If you are married with kids this can be a time for your kids and their kids to work on being friends if they aren’t so already.
Also in some instances it might be good idea to see if another member of the church can also be involved with the babysitting if certain precautions might be needed from the parents or because of other circumstances.
Be a blessing!
A Wise and great idea! Blessings!
Thank you sir, have a blessed day Pastor Randy!
Good idea. One may have to be friends with that other family first so the trust is built.
True one must built trust first; also one should be ok with families saying no. Blessings to you with this Sunday!
Great idea.

Our church is made up of mostly college students and young families. (It takes about 25 volunteers each week to have nursery available just for the little ones. Then there’s children’s church for elementary kids. This act of service would always be gratefully received, if not by one couple, by a dozen others. 🙂💕👍
Wow that is awesome to hear what God is doing in your church. It is always encouraging to see young people on the move for God and helping out! Have a blessed Lord’s Day today sister!!
Thanks, Jimmy. I just got home from church, where they announced three births in the last WEEK (!) and a young man we had prayed for a few weeks ago gave his testimony and got baptized! Sundays are like a day in heaven for me. 🙂 ❤
Great idea in many ways. Besides the obvious relief for parents, I know this kindness builds understanding, empathy, and fellowship for each other.
I’m sure there will be testimonies of the Lord working amongst them!
Good point about building empathy and having testimonies of God’s work too! Excellent point. Praying for your church to be a light this morning!!!
Reblogged this on Talmidimblogging.
Good exhortation! I remember my wife and I really appreciated those breaks when someone babysat.

Thanks, brother. Yesterday was a relief, finished my orders by noon and did audits the rest of the day. But zonked from the weekend. Hope to do a lot of reading and resting today.

We were kinda late getting into the grandparent playtime. Son #1 doesn’t have children , only a house full of pets. Son #2 finely has one son after 20 yr.marraige failed and he remarried …shortly. Son #3 after divorce and then 10 yrs being single now has 8…two boys and 6 girls. I’ts a blessed circus…Kim, my DnL does a remarkable job when Todd is off shore for 4 and 5 weeks. God is good.

YOur husband is a Christian warrior: He fights and loves and protects! He’s so much like Jin who also likes kids!!! That’s so cool! How was your Lord’s Day dear Mandy?
It was a day of renewal and refreshment. Praise the Lord for His goodness. I imagine y’all had a nice time with Jin and fam!!!! What did you preach on yesterday?! Praying for you to have rest and renewal on your Monday off!!!!!
This is such a great idea, Jim. We can also involve the youths to help with the little ones during church service.
Aww thanks. That’s a great idea you mentioned. I also appreciated all the comments on my blog just now!!!
You are welcome
Thanks Pastor Jim! I agree there has to be trust to step into this role, on both ends. Some of our relationships are better suited to serve in this way.
This is a wonderful idea, thank you for this post SlimJim. We need to use our free time to be a blessing to others ☺️
