For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Encourage a mom with any of these seven biblical truths.
It might be something hard to try to encourage moms, whether you are a mom or not. I was trying to think of what truths one can share to mothers at church.
Here’s seven truths from Scriptures:
- Being a mother is important (1 Timothy 2:15)
- Mothers can be forgiven of sins (1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:5)
- Mothers can find rest in Christ (Matthew 11:28-30)
- Mothers can ask God for wisdom (James 1:5)
- Mothers can find joy of the Lord as strength (Nehemiah 8:10)
- Mothers can find identity in Christ (Galatians 2:20)
- Mothers can be encouraged that God is at times described as motherly (Isaiah 49:15, Matthew 23:37)
What other truths can you think of?

Good points of encouragement for mothers.
Thanks! Have a blessed Mother’s Day with your family today Frank!!
Mothers are God’s gift to a world needing to know Him. Here I repeat a comment I made elsewhere which is appropriate here too I believe:
“Praise the Lord for Godly women; three mothers brought me to faith over the years: my mother, my grandmother and my aunt. I thank God for them often.”
Amen, same here!!!!
Amen Alan thanks for sharing. I don’t remember if I asked this before but is it also Mother’s Day in Scotland?
Mothers day is in March in the UK and Scotland, as well as Ireland.
Happy Mother’s Day to Nancy! Good encouragement. We should be affirming mothers with words but even more so I think we need to honor mothers (Eph 6:2) where our words and our actions align. Praying for y’all!
Thanks Mandy! Nancy said thank you!!! And I agree our actions and our words should align with how we honor our mothers! Are you with your mom this weekend too or is that only next week??
I’m with my mom this coming weekend and the following! Praise the Lord!
It’s not just a Sunday thing.
Amen it should be more than a Sunday thing! Have a blessed Mother’s Day Beverly!!!! May it be blessed! Will today you will the company and presence of children and grandchildren???

Happy Mother’s Day to you Crissy! Blessing to you, a Christian mom and grandma!
To all Moms, Dads, Youths, and everyone else:
Amos 5:4
For the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek me, and you will live.”
These are biblical and tangible ways to be loving
Mothers are teachers. (Proverbs 1:8, Proverbs 31:26) 🙂
Wow those are relevant passages I will use sometime with encouraging moms to teach. Thanks for sharing that
Whether we are intentional about it, we are always teaching. Mothers are with their children many hours a day, and every word we say, every gesture or action, teaches something, for better or worse. Sobering (James 3:1)!
Pastor Jim, thanks for sharing these verses. God calls us to honor our mother (and father) in Exodus 20:12.
Thanks for reading this and your comments on the blog brother!
You are welcome! Grace be with you.
Thanks for this post SlimJim, it is a blessing to have mothers at church 😊
