For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Praying with those who are graduating and anxious with the future.
In the past I wrote a similar post along the lines of encouraging those who are graduating from schools. But given everything with the direction of the economy, job prospects, overall education in the United States going down in public schools that was exasperated by the lockdown and restrictions, it can be quite an anxious time for graduates. This is true for graduates of college, graduate school, high school and younger.
Do you know any graduates in your church?
Find out.
If you do know graduates and you also know they are anxious, reach out to them. Ask them how are they doing. Or “what’s on your mind?”
Let them talk. Listen.
And take the time to say “I appreciate you sharing what you shared.” Respond to what they said. But also say “let’s pray together right now about it.”
Pray with them.
Pray for them.
Pray with those who are graduating and anxious with the future.
How should you pray?
Pray for their spiritual focus. Pray for their priorities. Pray for them not to be anxious. Pray for them to look towards Christ. Pray for the next thing they are doing. Pray for the Lord to direct them for those who graduate and don’t know what to do next. Pray for providence to make things clear. Pray for them to have wisdom. Pray for them to pray! Pray for them to understand their identity in Christ. If they don’t know Jesus, pray the Gospel with them; pray they trust in the Gospel to be saved!

I have several extended family member leaving both High school and College..They are in my prayers and I hope they remember it is God who holds the future.
Glad to hear that and that you are praying for them. Beverly it is a blessing for them to have someone who loved them pray for them! Have a blessed day!!!
Thanks for the good exhortation! While graduates are excited about the new chapter ahead, there’s also worries. Michael Kruger wrote a book, “Surviving Religion 101” for young Christians going off to college.
That sounds like a good book; did you read that? I don’t remember if you reciewed and if I learned about Kruger’s book from your blog?
Nope, I didn’t read that book, but I would like to. I was listening to the local Christian radio station while driving to work a couple of weekends ago and heard Kruger talking about that book.
May they not be anxious and look forward to Christ who guides them on their ways.
Amen Frank, amen!
Amen and Amen. Prayer for all graduates.
Amen. I’m praying for your sister Helen. Praying praying praying!
Given the state of economy this anxiety is probably prevalent
Amen. Our graduates definitely need our prayers. Thanks for highlighting this need.
Amen! I remember you sharing your son graduating college a few years ago! If my memory is correct!!!
Yes that is true. He is currently attending college in Florida and home for the holidays.
That’s thoughtful of you
Inspiring and blessed post! Our graduates face an exciting, yet anxious time. I am praying for my own grandson as he enters college in the fall.
Thank you for this post SlimJim; it is an encouragement to pray for others in need
