Recently someone in a pastor’s forum shared his parents will be going to his church and if there’s any other pastors with any advice.
Here’s my pastoral reply:

For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: Was Abiathar the father or the son of Ahimelech?
Here are the two answers which the skeptic believes shows a Bible contradiction:
“But one son of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to David.” (1 Samuel 22:20)
“Now it came about, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.” (1 Samuel 23:6)
“Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was scribe.” (2 Samuel 8:17)
“and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was secretary;” (1 Chronicles 18:16)
“Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel the scribe, from the Levites, recorded them in the presence of the king, the leaders, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the priests and the Levites; one father’s household taken for Eleazar and one taken for Ithamar.” (1 Chronicles 24:6)
(All Scriptural quotation comes from the New American Standard Bible)
Here’s a closer look at whether or not there is a contradiction:

This last weekend of ministry left me very fatigued and tired. I’ve been having a hard time getting the basic of things done. I usually study at night but I have been falling asleep with my books and the laptop open. The administrative stuff was harder to take care of Sunday through today. And there’s things I do need to do for this upcoming week: Email those of you who want to write guest posts sometime later in the fall, the agendas for our Church meeting with parents to discuss children ministry and youth group (which I also need to have someone translate into another language!) and also the routine teachings throughout the week.
But in the midst of this I had a long talk with my daughters over lunch just now.

For my Presuppositional apologetics series I didn’t want to make it too long and I wish in the future to add more on critiquing other religions and cults from a Presuppositional Apologetics perspective.
I know sometimes some people feel Presuppositional Apologetics often deal more with atheism than the major religions.
I do want to provide a bibliography for others and also for my own reference in the future on Presuppositional Apologetics taking on other religions and cults.

It is a part of the “minibook” series published by New Growth Press and authored by various counselors from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation. The author Julie Lowe is a faculty in the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation has written articles and other resources on biblical counseling concerning ministering to children and parenting. Do you want to write a guest post here on our blog?
This week I was able to finalize details where later this upcoming fall I will be traveling overseas to teach Christians and equipping pastors and churches that I wish to keep anonymous. Its been a long time since I done this, with the long years with worldwide Covid travel restrictions and difficulties. Where I’m going will take a long time to get there and also in the past internet might not always be good. So I’m going to look for guest writers for this blog.
Interested? Here are the details:

For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: Should we hate other people?
Here are the two answers which the skeptic believes shows a Bible contradiction:
“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.” ( Luke 14:26)
“You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may certainly rebuke your neighbor, but you are not to incur sin because of him.” (Leviticus 19:17)
“You shall not take vengeance, nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:18)
“Everyone who hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.” (1 John 3:15)
“If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he hates his brother or sister, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.” (1 John 4:20-21)
(All Scriptural quotation comes from the New American Standard Bible)

Pastors also need a break from heavy theological reading! So here’s a Batman comic book review!
Paul Dini and Alan Burnett. Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two. Burbank, CA: DC Comics, June 14, 2022. 208 pp.

Purchase: Amazon
Do you like the Batman Animated Series from the 90s? If so this comic might be for you! Earlier this year I read and reviewed Batman: The Adventures Continue Season One. I enjoyed it a lot and I felt it was one of the better works published by DC Comics these days since sometimes new materials seems to be filler, too much backstory, it was too dark, the story was lame or the creative team was advancing socially divisive agenda. I just want good story telling and both this one and the earlier volume delivered. Plus this echoed the artwork and characters of Batman the animated series as a kid and I got nostalgic joy reading both books. This trade paperback edition that collects the second year’s issues (season 2 issues 1 through 7). They even had one of the screen writers from the Animated Series as one of the writers for this “Batman: The Adventures Continue” series.
