This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Repenting of sins from the previous year.
I think the Christian life means constantly repenting of our sins. The battle against sin isn’t easy!
When we think back of our last year we should think about our weakness and also go to God to ask for grace to change. But before change happens we need to confess our sins (1 John 1:9). According to 1 John 1:9 it is confessing our sins to God that God then forgives us and cleanse us. Never forget the importance of confessions to God as part of the means of Grace for change!
Confessing our sins we should ask God to also give us grace to turn away from the sins and struggles we have.
Again Christians should regularly confess and repent to God. But with a new year its good to think of the past year and taking stock of where we are spiritually and morally; and its a great time to ask for God’s grace to repent.
This is a great way to begin a new year.
I am thankful for the exhortation. Praying for your service, meeting today. Lots of love and blessings to you and yours in 2023.
Happy New Year! Praying for your church service, for you and Nathan as well!
Great suggestion, and the right way to start a new year. Thank you. And happy New Year to you!
Happy New Year brother Andy!!
Yes brother! This is a good idea indeed, the New Year is a great gift and opportunity for us as children of God. May we shake off the sinful dust and draw closer to Him who Redeems us. May 2023 be a blessed year for you and your family Jim.
Amen: “May we shake off the sinful dust and draw closer to Him who Redeems us. ” Big Amen!
Thanks for this good exhortation, brother! It’s good to regularly take stock of where we’re at in our spiritual walk, repent of our failings and disobedience, and “redirect” with God’s grace. There have been times in my past when I got down on myself for not following the Lord better than I did. And we know how people notoriously fail at New Year’s resolutions. But God doesn’t want us depressed and defeated. If we were perfect we wouldn’t have needed Him!
Your words hits it in the nail! I want this post to encourage spiritual renewal with confession, evaluation and repentance, and done so by God’s grace! This is the greatness of the Cross and the Gospel, we can go to Him for forgiving and sanctifying Grace!
The post was very appropriate for today, January 1st!
Amen, “wash me with hyssop and I shall be as white as snow’ and “create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within me” .
Amen! I prayed those words when I read your comment; God bless you sir!

What a great post to start the year !! You want to be right with God to receive all the blessings God promises to those who are living “Spirit-filled”, Christ-centered lives !!
Blessings in Christ, bruce
To be right with God you must first become a redeemed, “born again” believer…
Not 100% sure you will be going to heaven when you die ?? You absolutely CAN be sure you are heaven bound when you are “born again” by God above… Open the link below, and seek Jesus Christ to become your personal Lord and Savior before it’s too late…

Thank you for this post, Pastor Jim. Asking for forgiveness is a continual part of a Christian’s life as you have stated. Asking God to forgive us for our continual nature of waywardness is, indeed, a great way to being the new year!

So true, repentance ought to be a daily staple in the Christian life. We are broken people but God’s grace is sufficient.
