This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for churches you know looking for a Pastor.
In 2021 I was guest speaking at a church that lost the two pastors that they had. This church had a Chinese Senior Pastor and an associate pastor for the English ministry. I was preaching every Sunday for their English ministry after I was done with my church. That church dwindled down so small that now I still preach for them but its now as a Friday night youth group.
I talked to the person coordinating the Church for the English side and it seems they have been having a hard time looking for a pastor. My heart is heavy for small struggling churches. (I’ve always been the one who would rather minister to a small church that is struggling rather than at a big set ministry). I think this Sunday at my church’s prayer meeting I will have our ministry pray for this church.
Which got me thinking: Your church might already have a pastor already. But it might be good in the spirit of the Universal Church that if you know any churches that are looking for a pastor to pray for that church. We are the universal church and local church is important but that doesn’t mean we can’t pray for other churches that lack an elder or pastor.
The Domain for Truth 
Thanks for this good exhortation! It’s hard to find good churches and I imagine it’s hard for good churches to find good pastors.
Sometimes I wish I can do more; but I realize as I get older maybe training pastors might be the way to multiply God’s Work. Let me know how your Sunday service went!
Pastors need solid training and the Lord has provided you many experiences to be able to train others.

Excellent brother. There is a great need for solid bible-believing Pastors. Praying with you. Should we rethink our criteria? I do not recall anything about a theology degree or attending seminary in the New Testament.
While I feel seminary degrees helped me I do think it’s more important the ability to teach and the character that we should have as metrics for those in ministry rather than mere degrees!
I agree seminary is very helpful. I am at an age where I do not think it would be helpful. I do not have the time. Yet, I could serve in a leadership role. I think there are many of us in that circumstance.

This is a good prayer point. We definitely need pastors with a shepherd’s heart and a heart for the things of God. These days pastors are entering the ministry for the wrong reasons.

Jim, I appreciate the message of this post. Having lived in rural communities when I was teaching in Montana, I have seen the empty pulpit in some of their churches. As you have stated, this situation is ongoing in many churches across the country.
