This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for those who recently got married in your Church.
Someone in our Tuesday Bible study recently got married! It got me thinking: We as a church should pray for those who recently got married! We should pray for their direction of marriage should be God glorifying. We should pray for their sanctification. We should pray for God to use them for the Kingdom of God. We should pray for the marriage to be Gospel motivated and God centered! We should pray for the trials ahead in the days to follow; and pray that they still follow God and still be married.
I think such a couple would appreciate it!
What does that practically look like? Attend prayer meeting and among the prayers to pray corporately, pray for that. If your church have a members meeting, bring this petition up. Go to the couple and offer your prayers for them either before or after service. Or if you missed them, call them after church on Sunday to pray for them. Pray for their marriage in private and with others; pray both ways!
In a time when the enemy is going overtime attacking biblical marriage and family, pray up!
Praying!
Thanks! Praying for Ben also!
Congratulations Ben!
Thanks for this good exhortation. Christian married couples need our prayers. Besides our own fallen nature, there are so many secular attitudes out there that undermine godly marriage that can seep into spouses’ thinking.
You hit it on the nail the many spiritual minefields today for young Christian marriages. So true. So much minefields to make Pastors busy with shepherding! How was your Saturday?
Yesterday was so bitter cold, -3F when I woke up in the morning. We mainly just stayed inside and hunkered down on the couch. How did your Saturday go?
Excellent brother. This sums it up well: “In a time when the enemy is going overtime attacking biblical marriage and family, pray up!”
Amen thanks for reading this all the way and highlighting the conclusion!!

Reblogged this on clydeherrin.
May all those who recently got married have a blessed life in the Lord together.
Amen this I pray!
Good reminder! Praise and thank God for the joy of the new union but also its longevity and fruitfulness in every way.
Amen! How did your visit a few days ago went?
So well! Thank you for praying for these old bones in the below freezing weather. But the fellowship was worth it. 💞
Amen.
And amen sister!
Amen and Amen.
Amen hope you are doing well!

Pastor Jim, your words of encouragement touch on something that my own prayers should witness to. Our blended family of five daughters are blessed with grace-filled marriages, and I think of many others. God, continue to light their way through the inevitable challenges ahead. May your grace fill their love with patience and kindness.
Wow praying!
I’ll apply it this upcoming Lord’s Day
Great idea! I’ve been doing this for years in another context: those who just got baptized. My wife and I have seen a disturbing number of people who got baptized and then went their own way.
By the way, on Clyde Herrin’s site, you posted this comment about “The Intelligent Designer” post: “Creation Cowboy Bob wrote a good post.” Actually, that post was written by me (Keith Petersen). I replied to your comment there, but it’s awaiting moderation.
Hello Keith! Sorry for the mix up! Glad you wrote the post! Praise God you pray for those who are baptized…that sounds like a good idea for a future “This Sunday” post on my blog, if that’s ok…was thinking of this point since someone I know just got baptized
I’m sure you can clear that up with another comment on Clyde Herrin’s site. And sure: no need to mention my name regarding your future This Sunday post on your blog; just that someone mentioned it as something they do would be fine.
I’m glad to “meet” you; I’ve “seen” you on Seeking Divine Perspective’s site.
