My internet at home has been a problem since the internet provider’s optic cable has broken and been a problem for our area.  But it is fixed this morning hence the delayed post!

This is a guest review by Seth.  He is an online friend and his blog can be found at A Poor Wretch.  Check it out.

Several years ago, widespread corruption among the world’s biggest banks emerged out of conspiracy theory into breaking world news, revealing the long hidden secret that what are known as Libor rates had been illegally manipulated for decades. Libor rates significantly affect everything from mortgages to student loans. As banks falsely reported artificially low borrowing rates, these banks were implicated together in the theft of many billions of dollars from millions upon millions of people. The magnitude of corruption was especially historic, not only in an international sense, but spiritually speaking was representative of the volume and degree of mass-coordinated evil that exists in broad daylight, as well as a truly perfect example of mankind’s utter and desperate need of God’s grace to have hope of salvation from the idolatry of money.

Obviously John Frame here is not saying every theologian makes this error of chopping the Scriptures; nor that just because one is a theologian it therefore means one will make that mistake.  Actually everyone is prone to making this blunder of “reporting” on segments of Scripture in isolation.

Which means we must watch ourselves even in how we read Scripture.

I’m going to go on a tangent from Frame’s book with this quote as a spring board to examine three practical examples of how people including myself can over-emphasize one aspect of Scripture over and against another:

how-does-the-biblical-doctrines-of-demonology-helpus-us-have-a-more-godly-marriage

Establish the need: Why should we care about what the Bible say about demons in regards to marriages? When we know someone is out to destroy our marriage we would be very proactive to defend it; but did you know there are supernatural beings out to destroy your marriage?  Specifically they are led by the devil so the devil will be our focus for our present study.

Purpose: In this series we will explore how theology shapes marriage and here in our fifth session we shall consider the Bible’s teaching on the devil and how to resist Him in order to protect our marriage.
