This is a post that I forgot to share before I posted our .   Be sure to check out that post for more resources concerning the issue of homosexuality and the Bible.

Fred Butler alerted me to this resource over at his blog.  Don Green, a long time pastor at John MacArthur’s Church (Grace Community) and leader at Grace to You Broadcast is now pastoring as a senior Pastor at Truth Community Church.  They have recently completed a conference on the topic of the Bible and Homosexuality in which they are calling the church to have a courageous confidence in Christ.

The nice thing is that they have made the audios to this conference available for the world on their website here.

Here’s the sessions linked to the audios:

1. Refuting the Five Myths on Homosexuality

2. Why Homosexuality is Wrong

3. Scripture, Shellfish, and Homosexual Sin

4. Addressing the Heart of Same-Sex Attraction

5. The Future of the Church and Homosexuality

I have benefited from Don Green’s preaching in the past.  May this edify God’s people.

Good news for the cause of Christ.  John MacArthur’s Grace to You Broadcast is now going out to the Muslim World.

Over at Christian Post, this was the report:

Renowned preacher and author John MacArthur opened the four-day “Truth Matters” conference Thursday evening by announcing that his evangelistic television program began satellite TV broadcasting to the entire Muslim world for the first time that afternoon.

The TV program, “Grace To You,” also a global media ministry based in Panorama City, Calif., is a series of Bible studies led by MacArthur that were launched as audio-taped sermons more than 42 years ago.

MacArthur is the main speaker at the conference held at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, Calif. The event, which ends Sunday, is webcast live for free at truthmattersconference.org.

“There I am, preaching with Arabic subtitles on satellite television in 72 countries in North Africa, Europe and the Middle East,” MacArthur told the more than 3,500 at the conference and those watching on the Internet. “So, we are really grateful that the Lord opened up that opportunity for us. We just send the word out and let the Lord do what He will with it.”

You could read the rest of the article HERE.

May the Lord uses His Word to save people by the preaching of the GOSPEL that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of sinners, by the grace of God alone, through faith alone in Christ alone!

Its been some weeks since the Shepherd’s conference now, I thought I share with you a Message that is available through Grace to You, that was really well done on Luke 21:1-4, in light of prosperity Gospel preachers today:

Or for those of you more fancy into DVDs,

John MacArthur’s preaching is courageously against the false Prosperity Word of Faith Preachers today…And the insight he draws from this verse hit me hard and blew my mind away…

I’ve been misinterpreting this verse for years…

I’ve been listening to Grace to You’s podcasts.  John MacArthur went over the schedule in the beginning of 10/1’s podcast, saying after completing the more advanced “Doctrines of Grace” they’ll be “going in reverse,” by going back to the basics from October 8th to 17th. Then GTY will broadcast from October 18th to 19th a message called, “A Nation Abandoned by God” orginally given on the National Day of Prayer in Colorado Springs in May that received strong feedback from an airing on Focus on the Family. The message leads into “God’s Word to an Ungodly Society” from October 22 to 27, and ending October with 29th’s “Real Meaning of Christmas.” You can find all the details on GTY’s radio calendar.

On the January 10th, Grace to You podcast, titled “The Only Way to Happiness: Be Meek Part 2,” there was an hour extra special, only included in the podcast and not aired on radio. In the podcast, Phil Johnson and John MacArthur talk about the Emergent Church Movement.

During the discussion, Phil Johnson prompts John MacArthur to give a summary of the emergent church movement. Also, the conversation compares the similarities of the emergent church to the seeker sensitive movement. They additionally predict that the movement, in an effort to reach the current postmodern generation, is a “planned obsolescence”, citing Crystal Cathedral and Willow Creek model as examples. In the end of the discussion they give some practical advice to a Christian’s selection of a Church.

John MacArthur boils down the emergent threat to an attack on the clarity of scripture, exchanging clarify for mystery. MacArthur also quickly discusses the clarity of scripture, noting that Jesus always had the expectation of Jews to have read and understood the Old Testament, as well as Paul’s expectations for Gentiles to learn about the Old Testament.

For personal application, MacArthur warns that if the church you go to currently does not have a doctrinal statement or revere the exposition of the bible, you should find a new church (Even if it’s not emergent), to prevent “being tossed to and fro by the winds of doctrine.”

Phil Johnson also quotes from a few books. John MacArthur also notes that Zondervan, Christianity Today, as well as another book publisher promote the Emergent Church Movement, by publishing a large amount of books on the topic.

At the end of the podcast, Grace to You announced that this spring they will be giving away books for people who sign up to their mailing list called, The Truth War.

As a presuppositionist sidenote, John MacArthur mentions that his view of apologetics is to use the bible, “letting the lion out of the cage.”

The Resolved Conference has closed registration for the February 16 to 19, 2007 Conference in Long Beach, CA.

The Resolved Conference is based off the 70 Resolutions Johnathan Edwards made for himself when he was 19 years old. You can find the 70 Resolutions listed as #10 bullet from my post or just click here to go directly to the 70 Resolutions.

Upon reading, the following resolutions stuck out to me:

  • 3. Resolved, if ever I shall fall and grow dull, so as to neglect to keep any part of these Resolutions, to repent of all I can remember, when I come to myself again.
  • 8. Resolved, to act, in all respects, both speaking and doing, as if nobody had been so vile as I, and as if I had committed the same sins, or had the same infirmities or failings as others; and that I will let the knowledge of their failings promote nothing but shame in myself, and prove only an occasion of my confessing my own sins and misery to God. July 30.
  • 11. Resolved, when I think of any theorem in divinity to be solved, immediately to do what I can towards solving it, if circumstances do not hinder.
  • 24. Resolved, whenever I do any conspicuously evil action, to trace it back, till I come to the original cause; and then, both carefully endeavor to do so no more, and to fight and pray with all my might against the original of it.
  • 37. Resolved, to inquire every night, as I am going to bed, wherein I have been negligent,- what sin I have committed,-and wherein I have denied myself;-also at the end of every week, month and year. Dec. 22 and 26, 1722.
  • 38. Resolved, never to speak anything that is ridiculous, sportive, or matter of laughter on the Lord’ s day. Sabbath evening, Dec. 23, 1722.
  • 41. Resolved, to ask myself, at the end of every day, week, month and year, wherein I could possibly, in any respect, have done better. Jan. 11, 1723.
  • 62. Resolved, never to do anything but duty, and then according to Ephesians 6:6-8, to do it willingly and cheerfully as unto the Lord, and not to man:‹knowing that whatever good thing any man doth, the same shall he receive of the Lord.Š June 25 and July 13, 1723.
  • 65. Resolved, very much to exercise myself in this, all my life long, viz. with the greatest openness, of which I am capable of, to declare my ways to God, and lay open my soul to him: all my sins, temptations, difficulties, sorrows, fears, hopes, desires, and every thing, and every circumstance; according to Dr. Manton’ s 27th Sermon on Psalm 119. July 26, and Aug.10 1723.

I was curious to see if anyone had a copy of Dr. Manton’s sermon listened to by Johnathan Edwards mentioned in resolution 65. I couldn’t find any but I did find a website that had a diary of Johnathan Edwards when he listened to the sermon. It must’ve affected him a lot, because he mentions it twice in two seperate diary entries: July 20th and July 26th.

Resolution 11 really struck a chord in me, because I recently told a friend that I seemed good at finding questions, but no answers and that finding answers take a long time. Perhaps I should strengthen my efforts to find answers.
