I have a Muslim troll th blog’s Facebook page with an argument from Ezra 5:1 for Islam’s god of Allah. He shared this photo of the verse in Hebrew:
This isn’t the first time I heard of a similar argument. I first heard them from reputable Islamic apologists; I believe I heard it from Shabir Ally.
Is this a good argument? I don’t think so, here’s why:

Nearly five years ago I refuted a frequent Muslim argument that the Bible in Deuteronomy 18 is a prediction about Muhammad. I looked specifically at the argument as it was presented in A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam.
Among other things the booklet asserted concerning Deuteronomy 18 that:
So, this prophecy refers to Muhammad and not to Jesus, because Muhammad is more like Moses than Jesus.” (Page 34)
I followed up with a second post in which I further established the Christian claim that Deuteronomy 18 is not a prediction about Muhammad since it is instead a predication about Jesus Christ. I did this by noting the parallel between the account of Moses in Exodus with the account of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. In our current post I want to further reinforce my point that the Bible in the New Testament presents Jesus as the parallel “New Moses” by looking at further parallels from the first few chapters of the book of Mark. Readers might want to start with the first two posts I have linked before proceeding onward in order to get the maximum force of the argument.
After reading this ask yourself this question: Doesn’t biblical Messianic prophecies and Messianic typology make you more certain in your faith with the truth of Christianity and also increase your awe with the glory of God manifested through Jesus Christ?

This is an incredibly insightful book on the Arab Spring and the subsequent rise of extremism and tyranny as the uprising’s aftermath. The author is a journalist who has spent considerable time in the Middle East both before, during and after the Arab Spring which contributed to the author’s experience and knowledge of things before and after the Arab Spring. For those who are curious about the Middle East and want to understand more of the current events in that region this book should be on the top of one’s list.

The other day I saw that Twitter was trending with the hashtag #BoycottDelta. It was about how supposedly Delta Airlines was racist and bigoted in kicking out a Muslim name Adam Saleh for speaking Arabic.
It’s ironic that the left spends so much time talking about censoring fake news…would be the very ones falling for (you guessed it) fake news.
So to those on the left: If you were guillby trending #boycottdelta and think #fakenews is something on the right, you might be part of the problem.
Here’s David Wood exposing Adam Saleh. David Wood responded really well and cogently and gives examples to consider just how problematic Adam Saleh’s attempt to get attention is.

Joby Warrick. Black Flags: The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of the Islamic State. New York, NY: Doubleday, September 29th, 2015. 416 pp.
The author Joby Warrick is a journalist whose career includes covering the Middle East. Previously I read the author’s first book titled The Triple Agent: The al-Qaeda Mole who Infiltrated the CIA. I enjoyed this present volume a lot more both in terms of the subject and writing style. In Black Flags the author focuses on what was formerly known as Al Qaeda in Iraq and its founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and how the organization later evolved into the Islamic State. The book was filled with a lot of facts that I didn’t know before but learned from here. The work was so fascinating that I had a hard time putting down the book. Given how I am reading this book on the eve of the Iraqi and Kurdish army’s invasion into the last stronghold of the Islamic State in Iraq in the city of Mosul, I found this very timely and eye opening.

A Muslim from Nigeria tried to add me on facebook the other day. He has been going around online as a troll attacking Christianity. One of his charge against Jesus is that the Bible taught Jesus and His Disciples were thieves. That is, Jesus and disciples stole things from people. In a post titled “CAN WE CALL THIS AUTHORITY STEALING OR WHAT” this is what the individual wrote:
Mathew 12:1- King James Bible
At that time Jesus went on the
sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.Jesus was reported to also enter a farm that belongs to someone on a Sabbath day to take corn without the knowledge of the owner.
.Bible says that when Jesus was caught plucking corn, he said, have they not read it how David went into the Synagogue on a Sabbath day to eat what does not belongs to him.
My position is that Matthew 12:1 in CONTEXT does not teach Jesus and His disciples were stealing. Here’s my reply (note: while the Muslim troll quoted from the KJV, I’ll be using the NASB):

Lawrence Wright. The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11. New York, NY: Borzoi Book, August 8th 2006. 373 pp.
I knew I had to read this book after seeing many other books on counter-terrorism and radical Islam referenced this work. There’s a reason why this book is cited often and mentioned in bibliographies: it is a well-researched book on the origins of Al Qaeda leading up to their attack on September 11th. The author spent five years researching for the book which led the author to travel all over the world.

Here’s a video that was rather interesting as a social experiment.
I don’t condone pranks that scare people with terrorism or threaten their lives. I share this because it is an ilustation that worldview does matter.
While the prank never interviewed anyone afterwards for their political persuasion, I imagine Leftists and liberals who think Islam is a religion of peace would react the same as those across the other political spectrum.

I believe that in my previous three posts in this series I have adequately refuted the main point from a piece from the Huffington Post titled “Did Jesus Predict Muhammad?” This post is a “mop up” of some of the other fallacies the author committed in his attempt to argue that the Jesus prophecied about Muhammad.
One of the interesting argument that the writer gave is based upon 1 John 4:2. I will quote 1 John 4:1-3 for context:
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.
The quotation comes from the NASB.
Here’s the guy’s argument:
The author of 1 John is especially worried about Docetic versions of Christianity that had developed denying that Jesus “came in the flesh”; in these versions of Christianity Jesus was not an actual human being but rather an angelic being that only appeared to be human. Such a version of Christianity, obviously, would have been quite disconnected from the actual teachings and values of Jesus of Nazareth and his earliest followers, who knew him as a real human being. It is worth noting that Muhammad meets these criteria insofar as the Qur’an affirms that Jesus is the Messiah and that he “came in the flesh.”
He thinks Muhammad meets the requirement of 1 John 4:2 that therefore makes Muhammad a true prophet. Hm.
