Standing Strong How to Resist the Enemy of Your Soul John MacArthur

John MacArthur’s book “Standing Strong: How to Resist the Enemy of Your Soul” is available for free on Kindle for a limited time if you click HERE.

Here’s the book description from Amazon:

Spiritual warfare is a divisive subject for today’s church. Some Christians focus solely on the immediate world around them, living as if there’s no spiritual opposition to God’s people and His kingdom. Others take an aggressive stance, where confronting the enemy becomes a constant pursuit in their lives.
John MacArthur believes the truth is found between these extremes. Standing Strong offers a balanced, biblically sound approach to spiritual warfare in the life of a believer. A trusted and renowned pastor and author, MacArthur examines key scriptures to debunk modern fallacies, define true spiritual warfare, and share what that looks like for believers today. Throughout, you’ll be encouraged and equipped to stand strong in the face of every spiritual challenge.

Standing Strong includes a guide for both personal and group study, which features discovery questions, suggestions for prayer, and activities, all designed to connect life-changing truths with everyday living.

Enjoy!

MacArthur Found God's Will

John MacArthur. Found: God’s Will.  Colorado Springs, CO: David C. Cook, July 1st, 2012. 80 pp.

There seems to be no shortage of so called “Christian” books on God’s will and yet few of them are biblical.  John MacArthur’s book Found: God’s Will is a helpful work on this subject since it is biblically driven and definitely not man-centered.  In seven chapters MacArthur lays out logically what God’s Will is for our lives.

This is pretty funny.

We live in a culture that is on a perpetual outrage and easily offended with the littlest things that disagree with us.

I’m reminded of this quote from John MacArthur that’s quite relevant:

If the truth offends, then let it offend. People have been living their whole lives in offense to God; let them be offended for a while.

Shepherds Conference

Why an inerrancy summit?

1.) The scripture is under attacked and we are under obligation to defend it

The greatest threat is not from the outside but the inside

I submit there is no greater offense than to attack the Scripture

Jude tells us to earnestly contend for the Faith (v.3)

We see a long history attack of Scripture (Roman Catholicism, enlightenment, historical criticism, rationalism, cults, Pentecostals, experimentalism, third wave, New apostolic reformation, Christian psychology, church growth, etc)

Scripture reserve the harshest statements against this who lie about God’s Word; think of 1 kings 18 with Elijah and the false prophet

2.) Scripture is authoritative and we are called to declare it

2 Timothy 3:16_17

Jesus in John 10:35 says his weird cannot be broken which also shows he is GOD

John 3:33 says God is true

Bible is true because God cannot lie

New testament quote the old testament with divine authority

3.) Scripture is accurate and we are to demonstrate it

Law of thermodynamics, description of whether cycle, countless stars, Earth suspension on nothing confirmed in the bible

Think of prophecies such as Isaiah 53

4.) The Scripture is active and we are called to deploy it

It is the means which people are saved

It is the word that sanctifies (John 17:17)

There is only one book that will change your nature and your eternal destiny

The word is with power

You cannot be an expositor if you have a weak view of Scripture

Inerrancy Summit 2015We’re trying to wrap our blog series on the Christian worldview, film and Comics soon because next week all three bloggers from Veritas Domain would reunite at The Shepherd’s Conference.  This year’s theme is on Inerrancy and is the biggest ever.  They have called it The Inerrancy Summit and have brought many different speakers that normally don’t come out but they are for this occasion such as Kevin DeYoung and Carl Trueman.

Lord willing we hope that next Tuesday through Sunday we would be able to blog our notes from some of the sessions along with recommended resources from the Bookstore and book sales.

Stay Tune!

Fundamentals-of-the-Faith-inKhmer

Not to be cheesy but does it blow your mind seeing how much Christian impact one can have today around the World through the Internet?

It amazes me to think of how people from many different countries have visited our blog over the years and I can’t imagine the reach of websites and blogs that have greater clout.  In light of that for today’s post I want to post a free resource for the Cambodian church and also for those who are Cambodians or speak and read in Khmer so that Christians will grow in their life and doctrine and also for those who do not know Him will come to know Him biblically.  The classic work “Fundamentals of the Faith” workbook has been translated into the Khmer language and has been made available for free as a PDF through Cambodian Christian Resources.

Click HERE for the BOOK IN PDF

Here is the description of the book from the translators both in English and Khmer:

Book Details

Do you desire for you and your church to stand on rock solid theological doctrine? Do you want new believers to take off in their spiritual growth? Do you long to see more mature Christians equipped in evangelism and discipleship? Do you desire for your church to experience unity based on a shared understanding of God’s truth?

Then Fundamentals of the Faith is for you! This rich and easy-to-follow workbook is a resource for believers of all stages and was developed through decades of refinement by the elders, teachers, and pastors at Grace Community Church. Under the leadership of John MacArthur, this foundational material has been taught and tested in the classroom-and proven effective through the lives it has influenced.

Shepherds Conference

Recovering from this year’s Shepherd’s Conference.  It was so encouraging, edifying and equipping!

The last evening on Friday John MacArthur made a major announcement that Shepherd’s Conference next year’s theme is going to be on the doctrine of Inerrancy.

There’s going to be a lot of big name speakers (not that it’s big name in of itself is important, but names of men whom God have used mightedly because of their faithfulness).  It’s anticipated to be the biggest Shepherd’s Conference ever.

Here’s the promotional video:

There’s going to be RC Sproul, Ligon Duncan, Sinclair Ferguson, Paige Patterson, Carl Trueman, Al Mohler, etc.

It’s going to be March 3rd-8th, 2015.

Today is the beginning of Shepherd’s Conference!  This year is the most amount of attendee, coming in at 3,400 people with over 1100 individuals here for the first time.

The opening Session featured John MacArthur preaching on the topic of Fellowship.

It was a good message on how the danger of our age of hyper-privacy has undermined true fellowship among believers.

I didn’t get to take notes on my laptop since I forgot my power cord but here’s some of the notable quotes or rough paraphrase that establish the need for this sermon:

“Only in the New Testament do we see the body motif for fellowship.”

In the Greek, the noun for fellowship is used eight times.

“What threaten fellowship?  Hyper-Privacy.”

With our technology today, every person can become like a god, downloading their own reality.

Borrowing a line from Carl Trueman: “Childishness is a textually transmitted disease.”

Our Culture has become more narcissitic, individualistic and entitled; that’s what our culture want.

Instead of a virtual church, at a real church:

  • You might face an enemy
  • Real people
  • Preacher who point out your sins against you

Everything about the church fight against hyper-privacy and narcissism.
