Can’t ignore this big hurricane heading towards Florida though I’m at the other side of the United States well away from this storm.

I’m praying for the Lord’s grace to the people who will be in the storm’s path.

I think we all should pray.

Note: This is a guest post from our dear friend Michael Coughlin.

Matthew 7:1 (and other passages) instructs Christians to judge with righteous judgment and not hypocritically. The essence is this – be careful as you point out sin in another making sure you yourself are not committing the same error.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 states

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in [a]authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and [b]dignity

I think there’s room for discussion about the election among Christians.  I know there’s disagreements for this election.  But believers can unite in one thing: praying for those who are in authority and also who will be in authority.  1 Timothy 2 also reveal precisely why we pray for those in authority has to do with our walks with God (v.2).  It is so that we live a life in all godliness.  But that presupposes we are striving towards godliness and dignity.  Brothers and sisters are you?

Some of you on WordPress are familiar with brother Vincents Artale jr.  No doubt he’s probably reblogged some of your posts.  This week Vincent had a heart attack.

The following is from his post mentioning about his heart attack:

Hey everyone, we’ll the last 2 days have been interesting to say the least.

The last 60 days I’ve been struggling with some chest pain, after a visit with my Cardiologist we were waiting for approval for a cardio-catheter test to be approved. Well, after walking from the living room to the kitchen, 911 needed to be called Wednesday night. God bless those men and women, they were part of everyone saving my life.

The tests were done and 3 blockages were revealed. The doctors were amazed I was still alive. An Angioplasty catheter was successfully performed and 2 stents have been inserted, 1 more to be done in the upcoming weeks.

Pastor Jim at Domain for Truth and Brother Wally thank you for all your prayers, I love you guys. Now that I’m making this known to everyone, please join in Prayer, not just me but for all us.

My infamous reblogging abilities will resume on Monday…oh btw, I’m now home resting, follow up Dr visits coming up next wee

A Call to Prayer Ryle

J.C. Ryle. A Call to Prayer.  Pensacola, FL: Chapel Library, July 2nd, 2012. 49 pp.

I appreciate this short work on prayer by J.C. Ryle that exhorted Christians to pray.  Ryle delineates the reason why prayer is important and he goes so far as to say that an individual who doesn’t pray isn’t a Christian.  As uncomfortable as that thought is, Ryle’s certainly has a legitimate point that a Christian who is not communing with God is missing the whole point of why Christians are saved by God’s grace in the first place.  I think Ryle is also nuanced when he said that prayer in of itself does not save someone to go to heaven, but at the same time a non-praying person might be someone who does not understand God’s grace.

God is sovereign.  I’ve noticed the Lord increased opportunities the last few weeks and especially the last 24 hours to pray for brothers and sisters through WordPress going through various trials and tribulation.  Some prayer requests involves physical health, some involve grieving and some involves wrongs done to them.

If you have any prayer requests and you are comfortable with it, do share and I plan on praying for you.
