I’m translating through Ruth 4.

I found there’s a Daily Dose of Hebrew that goes through Ruth 4!  Thought I share this and also have it bookmarked for myself as I’ll be finishing up Ruth 4 sometime this month, Lord willing.

The publisher have said of this book that it is “perfect for students looking to apply their Hebrew and for past students who wish to review the essentials of Hebrew grammar.”   But before you dismiss that this book is something you can overlook because you don’t know Biblical Hebrew consider the possibility that this makes a great gift (Birthday, graduation, Christmas, etc) for someone you know in seminary, ministry and those who teach God’s Word and want to learn Hebrew or do use Hebrew regularly for teaching and preaching!

Nelson Glueck. Hesed in the Bible.  Eugene, OR: Wipf & Stock Publishers, May 20th 2011.  118 pp.

The Hebrew word Hesed is one that many Christians find fascinating.  It is often translated in English as “covenantal faithfulness” or “loving-kindness.”  This book is written by Nelson Glueck an early twentieth scholar of Reformed Judaism who wrote the first scholarly study of the word Hesed.  Its signifance can be seen with how other studies after Glueck would often cite and interact with Glueck’s view whether they are for or against his particular conclusions.  So it is wonderful to find that an English translation of this classic was done in the 1960s and have been reprinted by Wipf and Stock Publishers.
