It will not start off as wine

One of my greatest challenges is that I like to be in the know. I love to plan and to know exactly the process involved in anything I do. I like to know why, how, what and when. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It is good to be informed and aware of what is going on around us. However, many times in my life I have found myself getting frustrated with God for not letting me know the nitty gritty of everything. So when I came across this particular story which I will be sharing, it sounded good but also convicting because the people involved operated on a very high level of trust and faith.

As a pastor of young people I think it pays dividends to know apologetics and also be biblical in one’s teaching and living out of a biblical view of singleness, courtship, marriage and parenting.  Questions related to those areas come up often.

So I want to put it down in writing something I often say in preaching and counseling for those who are single (not yet married).

That quote will be below.  But first I want to state a principle: My brothers and sisters when considering someone as a potential spouse please court someone who loves God before anything else.

In the Image of God?

What does it mean to be created in the image of God? We learn in Genesis 1:26 that God made the decision to create man “in our image, after our likeness.” So, it is important to discuss what it means, really, for us to be in the image and likeness of God. Theologians and scholars have spent years trying to discern precisely what it means to be in the image of God, and use many words and complex explanations to explain it. This explanation will hopefully be far from complex and will be a description we can all follow and understand.
