Note: This is a guest post since presently I am busy today teaching class online for seminary students overseas. This is by Cowboy Bob. His blog be found here and he runs The Question Evolution Project on Facebook here.

Throughout much of history, people have used watchtowers for various purposes. East Berlin had several (with one remaining) to alert guards of people trying to escape their socialist paradise. Towers were set up to watch for fires. See a movie about the cavalry in a Western movie and notice the towers to watch for attackers.

It was very common for cities and castles to have walls built to keep out marauders, and of course, those had towers as well. However, towers were not the only place for sentries and lookouts; they also walked on those thick walls.

The Battle for the Beginning MacArthur

John MacArthur. The Battle for the Beginning: The Bible on Creation and the Fall of Adam.  Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishing Company, June 4, 2001.  240 pp.

4 out of 5

Purchase: Amazon

What does the first three chapters of Genesis have to say about the world we live in?  In this book by Pastor and Teacher John MacArthur we have an exposition of Genesis 1-3 covering largely the topic of God’s creation of the world and also how sin entered the world.  This was adapted from MacArthur’s sermon series of these passages.  The topic of creation and creation views are no doubt controversial among Christians today and MacArthur’s main focus in the book is to expound from the text of Scripture and he lands on a young earth creationist view.

I experienced some technical issues with my “God’s Creation of Sea Creatures” Home School teaching series for ages 4-5 in which I lost electronically my lesson on the Stingray.  I’m rather sad to see that I lost it since I accidently cut and paste the wrong thing over it.  I don’t know if I’m going to reconstruct the original lesson as they take some time for me to write out and plan as lessons.  For now for this Wednesday I’ll post a series from the blog “Biblical Beginnings” that explores the Molecular Machines Within Our Bodies.  This were part of a series she did to teach her own child so its right up my alley with homeschooling young ones.
