This is from my daily Greek exercise of sight reading a few weeks ago, courtesy of Vincent S Artale Jr.

Our text is from the Greek translation of Matthew 2:8.  Here is my translation:

“καὶ πέμψας αὐτοὺς εἰς Βηθλέεμ εἶπεν· Πορευθέντες ἐξετάσατε ἀκριβῶς περὶ τοῦ
And he sent them to Bethlehem and he said “Go and search carefully for the

παιδίου· ἐπὰν δὲ εὕρητε, ἀπαγγείλατέ μοι, ὅπως κἀγὼ ἐλθὼν προσκυνήσω αὐτῷ. ”
child and when you find Him report to me so I also may go and worship Him

Note: Previously I have posted “” and I plan on working on a new devotional series from time to time on our blog that focuses on verses from the four Gospel where we will make observations from the Greek but also draw out applications for our lives.  This post will kick it off so stay tune!

This is from my daily Greek exercise of sight reading yesterday, courtesy of Vincent S Artale Jr.

Our text is from the Greek translation of Matthew 1:24.  Here is my translation:

“ἐγερθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰωσὴφ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὕπνου ἐποίησεν ὡς προσέταξεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου
But Joseph arising from the sleep he did as  the angel of the Lord commanded

καὶ παρέλαβεν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, ”
and took his wife

Next month is soon going to be upon us.   Consider making it a habit to read His Word and read it in a way that you are trying to grow in your love of God.

Yesterday I took my mom out to a buffet for Mother’s day.  I normally don’t go to a buffet.  In fact it has been years I have been to this particular buffet: Hometown buffet.

But it got me thinking about the place for feasts in life.

I know if you look at the picture for today’s post it is of American “Thanksgiving” with the pilgrims and native Americans.

But when we think of American thanksgiving most people think of feasting.

So when was the last time you feasted on God’s Word?  That is, you found so much delight in Scripture you spend some time really consuming it and enjoying the Word of God and the truth contained within its pages?  You’re reading the Word of God, being in the Spirit, with a heart of worship and an attitude of awe, wonder and gratitude?

This is from my daily Greek exercise of sight reading many months ago, courtesy of Vincent S Artale Jr.

Our text is from the Greek translation of 1 Timothy 4:1.  Here is my translation:

“SENTENCE 4 [TP Τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα TP] ῥητῶς λέγει ὅτι [TM ἐν ὑστέροις καιροῖς TM]
But the Spirit says expressly that in the last season

ἀποστήσονταί τινες τῆς πίστεως
Some will leave the faith

ELABORATION προσέχοντες πνεύμασιν πλάνοις καὶ διδασκαλίαις δαιμονίων”
giving attention to spirits of lies and teachings of demons
