This is another of RC Sproul’s children book.  There has been a few of his books that I and my kids have enjoyed from him which led me to purchase this book as well.  In this work RC Sproul writes a book that touches on prayer.  I love how in this book as well as others RC Sproul writes on spiritual truths using a story within a story in which the first level of the story are kids hearing adults telling a story with a spiritual lesson that is relevant for them and their situation.  That helps the kids think more reflectively of how the main story applies to the children’s lives.

I have previously enjoyed two of the author’s Christian children’s book titled The Priest with Dirty Clothes and The Donkey Who Carried a King.  The author R.C. Sproul was not only a gifted theologian but wrote wonderful children’s book including this one.  In light of his recent death he will surely be missed.

Today Christian theologian and teacher RC Sproul went home to be with the Lord around 3 PM Eastern Standard Time.  Over at Ligoner Ministry they have these details:

Dr. R.C. Sproul went home to be with the Lord this afternoon around 3 p.m. surrounded by his wife, Vesta, and family in his hospital room in Altamonte Springs, Fla. He was 78. He died peacefully after being hospitalized twelve days ago due to severe respiratory difficulties exacerbated by the flu and complicated by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Known to millions of Christians as simply “R.C.,” he was used of the Lord to proclaim, teach, and defend the holiness of God in all its fullness. Through his teaching ministry, many of us learned that God is bigger than we knew, our sin is more deeply rooted than we imagined, and the grace of God in Jesus Christ is overwhelming.

God called R.C. to proclaim the gospel to as many people as possible. R.C. did this knowing the Lord did not need him. In fact, he wanted people to know the enduring, faithful witness of God’s servants throughout church history. God powerfully used R.C.’s ministry in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to awaken people around the world to the truths of classical Christianity.

It belongs to others in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead to assess the impact of R.C.’s ministry in the history of the church. In this moment, we feel loss—immense sadness and profound loss—the loss of a pastor, a teacher, a leader, a brother-in-Christ, a friend.

He has been a faithful servant of Christ.  I have benefited immensely from his teaching and ministry.  Many in my church have also benefited from his teaching in the past as well.  Over the years on blog have posted reviews and resources from his ministry which you can check out here.

What a sobering reminder that there is an eternity to come.  What a sobering reminder as well that what we do for the Lord extends to eternity.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

What a long week last week has been for me!  It was busy both on our blog and offline with ministry in light of Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.  As readers will notice this past week we dealt with various attacks by skeptics concerning the final week of Jesus.

As a bit of a break this Sunday evening I read and reviewed a Christian children story that’s appropriate for this Resurrection Sunday which I imagine some of you would appreciate.

I have previously enjoyed the author’s Christian children’s book titled The Priest with Dirty Clothes.  Written by Christian theologian R.C. Sproul, I appreciated that this book was biblically solid and yet enjoyable for young ones.  My three little girls who are all pre-school age also enjoyed this book when I read it aloud to them.
