This was originally a comment I wrote over at Wally’s blog:
Once in a while when I have a very difficult Sunday I like to BBQ alone outside for my family…it’s like a second pulpit, except the result is immediate. You say to the meat, “turn or burn” and you can just flip it over and it will be immediately the case where the problem is avoided. But then I think “I don’t want my people to be dead meat…” and suddenly after that refreshing time of being just there with God and myself and a grill, I feel renewed from chilling and renewed to be committed back to the ministry.
Pastors, don’t quit on Sunday.
Awesome!
Thanks, it was a thought that flowed from reading your post, so thank you too! Hope your new Grill works well for today!
Well, working the day, but will be using it later this evening. Have a blessed Memorial Day
Pastor Jimmy, I know that we who are not pastors don’t know the challenges that come with being a pastor. My prayers for your ministry.
Thank you Tom for your prayers. That means a lot. I hope that this post would encourage pastors who are faithful to the Word would continue to persevere in ministry. Any plans for Memorial Day? (BBQ?)
We had our oldest son and his crew over for a early afternoon hot dog cookout. They left and now my wife and I are sitting on the patio in the shade with a nice breeze blowing. How about you?
We just finished BBQ and had my parents and one of my sister over to spend time at our place; a nice laid back slow pace day and I’m glad for today. I’m glad one of your son and his family cake over!
Glad you had a good time. Thanks! Yes, it was nice spending time with our son and his family. They left at 3 PM so we had plenty of time to R&R afterwards. Started a fantastic new book that I am really enjoying. Have a good night!
That’s good stuff!
Thanks brother Matthew. I imagine as a fellow Pastor you would relate in some ways brother. I hope you have a blessed day on this Memorial Day.
Wishing you the same.
Your church is blessed to have a pastor who genuinely cares for them.
You are in my prayers.
so true, sister!
Hi Maria, how are you?
Hi, Pam! I’m doing well, just dealing with aging and normal things like this. We’re cleaning house physically and spiritually.
❤
Thank you Pam for your comment, encouragement and prayers. How are you doing Pam? How’s your health, faith and overall well being?
I’m well for an old lady!:0) My faith is strong. I’m still working on downsizing and looking forward to having a life more appropriate with my age. It’s a monumental task to get there though. Thanks for asking.
Lord bless your ministry, Pastor Jim, and your times of relaxing with family!
Thank you Maria, I hope you have a blessed day today with Memorial Day. I’m still amazed to think your husband fought in the Pacific.
His Dad fought there, Pastor. My husband Tom was born in 1942. 🙂
Yikes! I’m sorry I read the last comment a few days ago incorrectly, forgive me!
Thank you for your husband service
A father, thank you for your kindness!
Pastor, I – we all – think your tops.
