Due to shortages in the supply of wheat, bad weather, as well as the increase in oil prices, food costs have increased, resulting in many countries poorest people losing ability to buy food.

Oil prices affect the cost of transporting, storing, and growing food. The article by MSNBC states that food will be affected for the next 10 years. After causing much alarm, the article has some good news, stating that United States and European farmers have already taken steps to increase production for next year.

The news reminds me to not only be thankful but to be mindful of the hungry:

“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
(James 2:14-17)

The next time you eat, thank the merciful God for providing you today’s daily bread.

Many of the readers to this blog are involve with some form of ministry or another where teaching the Word of God is a fundamental role we carry out.

Here is something I read from Jay Adams that one should think about while preparing sermons and messages…

You must not exhort your congregation to do whatever the BIble requires of them as though they could fulfill those requirements on their own, but only as a consequence of the saving power of the cross and the indewelling , sanctifying power and presence of Christ in the person of the Holy Spirit.  All edificational preaching, to be Christian, must fully take into consideration GOd’s grace in salvation and in sanctification” (From “Preaching with Purpose: A Comprehensive Textbook on BIblical Preaching”, page 147)

AMEN?
