This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Letting your pastor know you appreciate the years he’s devoted to ministry.
Today’s post is inspired by a special event for our church this Sunday: Celebrating the 40 years our Pastor has been in pastoral ministry. That’s longer than I have been alive! The bulk of that time has been with our church (he did have a time as a church planter in another place).
I think its not just being thankful for the years your pastor has been at your church (that’s great too!). But if your pastor has years of ministry elsewhere before your church, I’m sure his experience and training with ministry at other churches also helped prepare him to be the man of God he is today, ministering at your church.
Do you know how many years your pastor has been in ministry?
I realize some church has more than one pastor. It might be helpful to share to at least one or more than one of them you are grateful for the years they have been in ministry.
Find out how long they have been pastoring; if you don’t know that’s ok too; ask and then after they tell you tell them you are grateful to God for the years they have been ministering.
I have notice the last few years since 2020 some pastors I known before have stopped doing ministry. Actually since graduating seminary I also noticed that the last twelve years since I finished my Master of Divinity the amount of my fellow Alumni still in ministry is decreasing. It might be meaningful to pray for our pastors but also praise God collectively and thank God for the years and his experience in ministry over all (and not just at your church).
Hope this is practical and meaningful.
Our church is fellowship led by the men, often using visiting preachers…that gives me a lot of men to thank.😊
I appreciate your ministry in the short couple of years I have known you Jim, may our Father God continue to guide and bless you each day 🙏
Wow thanks for sharing that; I heard once from two English pastors that often retired pastors guest speak often; such is the need in the UK?
Yes that is true in Scotland too Jim

Thanks for your years of ministry. God is using you in a mighty way.
Our church has 5 ministers. I think their years of service is on the website. Great suggestion. They need all the support they can get.
Shalom!
Thanks for this good exhortation! We need to lift up, encourage, and support our pastors! I’m praying for all of your ministries.
Thanks for your prayers. That means a lot. Woke up a bit earlier to soon go to church two hours earlier for final decorations for the 40 years anniversary event for our senior pastor. It’s been a long week, longer weekend. I am so tired! How is your Sunday???
Hope the celebration goes well! Great that the congregation is showing love and gratitude. Forty years of pastoral ministry is commendable, by God’s grace. Hope you also get some solid R&R maybe tomorrow.
We had a great morning at church and now it’s couch duty most of the day.
A great reminder! Thank you. Blessings, Pastor Jim!
Thank you Cindy for reading this post! May your Lord’s Day be blessed!
Excellent post and suggestion! We cannot thank our pastors enough!
Hope your lord’s day is going well Andy!!

There is a lot to be said about being in service for a long time. Things seem to be changing and the older pastors, mostly ,haven’t followed the “new” path. We have always been told the new younger pastors bring in new people. That may be true but wisdom comes with age and we are slowly losing wisdom.
God values faithfulness to His Word. Old time faithful pastors are a gem. Thanks for sharing this thought!

I will always remember my pastor. We have fond memories of his ministry to my family. Best to thank Him now
Good idea, to do this before it’s too late
I jotted it down on my new planner this Sunday (a new years resolution planner)
Great counsel, pastor’s need to know we appreciate what they do for us, for the kingdom. Thanks for all you do pastor 🙂
Grateful for godly pastors

Praying for the many who continue to lead big and small congregations. Our church’s senior pastor was part of the original team which planted this church about 30 years ago.
Wow praise God for His faithfulness!
Thank you for this post SlimJim; thankful for our pastors and all the behind the scenes work they do for the Lord ☺️
