(Note: Write down the vocabularies on a white board)
- Mandibles: “A pair of jaws that moves from side to side” (Ruth Berman Ants, 47).
- Maxillas: “Small mouthparts used for chewing” (Ruth Berman Ants, 47).
- Antennas: “The feelers on an ant’s head used to sense touch, taste, smell and movements” (Ruth Berman Ants, 47).

3. Able to illustrate the various parts of an ant’s adult body.
Tool 1: Drawing
Have six blocks to draw in.
Have the kids number it one through six to reinforce their lessons on numbers.
First block is a free style drawing of an ant.
Second block draw an ant with three main body parts.
Third block draw an ant now with mandibles.
Fourth block draw an ant with added antennas.
Fifth block draw an ant with three main body parts, mandibles and antennas.
Sixth block is a second drawing of what is on the fifth block: Draw an ant with three main body parts, mandibles and antennas. (The repetition is to reinforce the lesson).
Switch paper and see the similarities and differences in one another’s drawings.
Also note the differences of block one and the sixth blog: Note how the pictures are better because we know the body parts of an adult ant.
4. Reinforce the truth that God is Creator
Tool 1: Bible
“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16)
This verse talks about creation of everything on earth and in heaven.
Of course ants would be a part of God’s creation on earth.
You know what is amazing about this verse? It teaches us that Christ is the Creator!
Of course Christ can be the Creator if Christ is God.
God the Father used Christ to create everything, including ants!
Tool 2: Questions
Have you realized that God the Father used Christ to create everything?
Have you thank Christ for creating everything?
What ways does an ant body show Christ’s wisdom in creating everything?

Thank you Beverly for reblogging this. May the Lord bless your day today!
These little ants are fascinating. This video of an ant throwing another ant off a “cliff” was on the news the other day. Was it a dispute or was the ant that was “disposed of” sick or dead?
Ants really are something…as I was watching the video you shared I thought about how If they were as big as humans I think they would really be frightening with their level of salvage brutality. Aren’t you glad that God didn’t allow them to as big as we are and able to toss us down a cliff so quickly?
Amen!
