Can we take it for granted that we hear from God’s Word?
Three times in the Gospel of Matthew Jesus said “He who has ears, let him hear” in Matthew 11:15, Matthew 13:9 and Matthew 13:43.
Of course the hearing Jesus is talking about is spiritual.
Yet because of our sin we are spiritually deaf if you will.
What’s amazing is God’s grace of leading people who were once spiritually deaf (and spiritually dead!) to hear Him!
I think of John 10:27-28= “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
Sometimes as believers we can take it for granted that we hear His voice. We can sometimes view it as a chore to hear God’s Word. Is this ok? May it never be. Don’t take knowing and hearing Him from His Word for granted. Don’t take the spiritual ability to hear God for granted for that too is the work of God. Rather think of the first time you heard Him clearly in a real way. What was that like?
In the human realm this video is quite moving of a baby hearing her mom for the first time. May we think about how we heard from our Spiritual Father for the first time!
Unfortunately Jim, the video is not available to be played in Canada, but not to fear, the picture says it all! Blessings!
We must listen. Thanks for the insight.
Beautiful!
So precious!
How precious. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Man I got emotional seeing that video of the mom that has her baby able to hear for the first time! Have a blessed day today Maw Maw!
You also, my Grand.
Great video and analogy! I remember the first time I attended a Gospel-preaching church after accepting Christ. I wanted to jump up and down and shout “Amen” after just about everything the preacher said!
Aww that’s awesome! Just drove to my pastoral visitation today, it’s my long range day today; anything I can pray for you for today? Job search and health is already on my list
Thanks for your prayers, brother! Job search was real slow this week, only 2 applications, but my cold is quickly fading. Anything specific I can pray for for you?
Beautiful, Slim! You did an awesome job of describing it. What a tear jerker, but those are happy tears. 🙂
His word is amazing
Good reminder; I needed that.
