In this post we will look at Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled in Mark 15.
The list of prophecies followed the order it appear in Mark 15.
1. The Messiah’s silence before death
Prophecy: “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)
Note the prophecy was 700 years before Jesus.
Here it predicts the Messiah will not open His mouth during His affliction.
Keep in mind that when accuse of wrong-doing, we are often quick to defend ourselves. Yet Jesus was silent even if the penalty was death!
Fulfillment: “Then Pilate questioned Him again, saying, “Do You not answer? See how many charges they bring against You!” 5 But Jesus made no further answer; so Pilate was amazed.” (Mark 15:4-5)
2. The Messiah would have done nothing wrong
Prophecy: “His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:9)
Here the second half of the verse states the Messiah would have not done two things:
“violence“
“deceit in His mouth“
Fulfillment: “But Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify Him!” ” (Mark 15:14)
3. The Messiah would be whipped
Prophecy: “I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.” (Isaiah 50:6)
Here the Messiah is speaking.
The Messiah said “I gave My back to those who strike Me,” and if it involves whipping that would have been occurring on people’s back.
Fulfillment: “Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.” (Mark 15:15)
4. The Messiah would be mocked
Prophecy: “All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying,” (Psalm 22:7)
This prophecy is by David who lived a thousand years before Christ.
Notice here in a Psalm that’s Messianic it predicts that people would mock him.
Fulfillment: “After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they *led Him out to crucify Him.” (Mark 15:20)
5. The Messiah would face humiliation and additional beating
Prophecy: “I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.” (Isaiah 50:6)
Fulfillment: “They kept beating His head with a [reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him. 20 After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they *led Him out to crucify Him.”” (Mark 15:19-20)
Spitting is one way to humble someone. That’s what happened to Jesus.
Also the putting on the purple in mockery is also further humiliation
6. The Messiah would have His clothes divided up
Prophecy: “They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.” (Psalm 22:18)
Notice the Messianic prophecy followed right after the previous verse (Psalm 22:17) on the Messiah being mocked.
Here we see the prediction of the Messiah’s clothes being divided up.
Fulfillment: “Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!” (Mark 15:24)
7. The Messiah would have His clothes be divided up by casting lots
Prophecy: “They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.” (Psalm 22:18)
Notice the last half of the verse mentioned about the casting of lots.
The casting of lots here is for the Messiah’s clothes.
Fulfillment: “And they *crucified Him, and *divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each man should take.” (Mark 15:24)
8. The Messiah would be numbered among transgressors
Prophecy: “Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors..” (Isaiah 53:12)
Notice this verse is talking about the Messiah’s death when it says “Because He poured out Himself to death.“
Here it is also revealed that the Messiah would be “numbered with the transgressors“
Fulfillment: “They *crucified two robbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left.” (Mark 15:27)
9. The Messiah would have people wag their heads seeing Him dying
Prophecy: “All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying,” (Psalm 22:7)
Fulfillment: “Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!” (Mark 15:29)
10. The Messiah would experience the curse of God (Darkness at noon)
Prophecy: “The Lord will smite you with madness and with blindness and with bewilderment of heart; 29 and you will [a]grope at noon, as the blind man gropes in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways; but you shall only be oppressed and robbed continually, with none to save you.” (Deuteronomy 28:28-29)
Here is God’s law that those He strike will experience darkness.
This darkness means that at noon one can’t see but have to grope around.
Since the Messiah has to take away the sins of the world and take God’s punishment we are not surprised that God would blacken the sky at noon to punish the Messiah for all of our sins.
Fulfillment: “When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the [q]ninth hour.” (Mark 15:33)
11. The Messiah would cry out “My God, My God why have you forsaken me?”
Prophecy: “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.” (Psalm 22:1)
We have already seen elsewhere that this is a Psalm about Jesus.
Here it predicts the Messiah would cry out to God.
Fulfillment: “At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”” (Mark 15:34)
12. The Messiah would bring about salvation of Gentiles
Prophecy: “All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations will worship before You.” (Psalm 22:27)
We have already seen elsewhere that this is a Psalm about Jesus.
Here it predicts that the nations all over the world will have some turn to the Lord!
Fulfillment: “When the centurion, who was standing [s]right in front of Him, saw [t]the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was [u]the Son of God!”” (Mark 15:39)
A Roman Centurion would have been a Gentile.
Yet we see here the first human person in the Gospel of Mark to confess Jesus is the Son of God is a Gentile!
13. The Messiah would be buried in a Rich Man’s Grave
Prophecy: “His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:9)
Fulfillment: “Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.” (Mark 15:43)
Joseph as a member of the Sanhedrin would have been prominent and wealthy.
Jesus being buried in his grave fulfilled this prophecy.

Excellent! God is not a liar!!! 🙏🏻💕
*“Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!” (Mark 15:29)
*I wonder if I would have done this? 😭 Once upon a time I scoffed at this notion! This truth! This fulfillment…
BUT GOD!!!
So thankful for His grace and mercy!!! 🙏🏻💕
I read that in tears. I once was a mocker of Christ, but now He has saved me…
Amen! Everlight! Me, too 😭❤️
Thanks for the reblog, and Amen to your comment that Christ is not a liar! I imagine I too would be among the scoffers if I was there that day…and probably the best I would be would be like the disciples…afraid and in hiding. Which shows the contrast how courageous Christ is to be dying on the Cross for our sins…praise God for such a loving Savior amen?
Amen Amen Amen!!!
Well done to the glory of God! 🙌🙌🙌
Great work! I am challenged by Jesus fulfilling Deut 28:28-29.
The darkness during the death of Christ has so many incredible multi-faceted aspect to it, Especially when I consider it from the perspective of biblical theology and antecedent theology of what came before in the flow of Scripture’s progressive revelation…I imagine when you pursue your PhD you can write some papers exploring these themes!
Nice
Thanks! How’s your sleep Monday/Tuesday?
Slept 10 hrs lol.
Great compilation.
Thanks brother! I imagine you would be someone that would appreciate this when I was writing this post. God bless you brother…
You too!

Wow, this is so great, God truly knows the end from the beginning!
Amen these Prophecies can only be possible if He knows the future before they happen. Certainly attest to the doctrine that He is all knowing! Good point that you made here. Are we still on for tomorrow with the interview? Same time as last time?
Yes sir! Thank you so much for doing this, I never heard back from Cleanfeed about the last interview. Let’s use Skype this time, I’ll send you my Skype account info so that it’s easier to find me. So same time, difference place 😀
Amen! It amazes me that people can be thoroughly knowledgeable about the Old Testament and still not see that Jesus was (and is) the Messiah. It is certainly true that only by the Spirit of God are people’s eyes opened.
Truly there’s spiritual dimension that impact one’s reading of Scripture and it depth and evidential value. It makes me all the more grateful that God has open our eyes because of His grace and not because I am worthy or smart, amen?
Amen!
Prophecy: “His grave was assigned with wicked men…
This meant the burning garbage dump… 😦
Praise God! “Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.”
Have a blessed day, SLIMJIM! \o/
Thanks, brother! I was truly blessed by this listing! I remember the first time I read the Old Testament after having been saved and after having read the New Testament. The Messianic Prophecies in the OT and even the typologies like the account of Joseph saving his brothers were jaw-dropping!
Here’s another Messianic Prophecy fulfilled in Matthew that is a bit more obtuse:
“I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons.” – Psalm 69:8
“While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50
While Mark 3:21 more clearly indicates that Jesus’ brothers opposed Him, “And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind,” the passage from Matthew would seem to be referencing the same familial opposition.
Thanks for sharing that. There’s so many Messianic prophecies and typologies! Certainly the evidential value of these are incredible. Thank you for sharing that. I think what you wrote is worth making into a post on your blog sometime! What do you think?
RE: What do you think?
Yes, I think it would be a good idea for a post. I’ve marked it down. Thanks!
Powerful apologetics and emotionally riveting to read.
You said it well
What a wonderful summary. Thanks for making it happen.

The only Person in history to fulfill all these Prophesies.
Excellent.
Scripture’s own Prophecies are amazing! I’m glad you see it too, it’s one reason why I want to study God’s Word regularly.
His forshadowing is from the begnning to the end of the Old Testiment. Every move of God was for the coming of Christ. Amazing.
What an amazing God ! Thank you for blessing us with these prophecies.

Thanks, a very nice post. What a Savior!
How can Christ not be the Messiah? Thank you from Pakistan
Those are some mind blowing prophecies
Hiya, I am really glad I have found this information on Messianic prophecies. A good listing of exciting content, that is what I need.
A friend email this. I’m going to link it for my Sunday school this afternoon!
What’s up?
I found this article very interesting…please read!
Do you remember the blockbuster hit film The Matrix that was released in 1999? You may not know this, but it has deep spiritual implications concerning the times we are living in and Bible prophecy.
It tells a story of how these “agents” are trying to turn us into machines. We are closer then ever before for this to become a reality when they cause us to receive an implantable microchip in our body during a time when physical money will be no more.
You may have seen on NBC news concerning the implantable RFID microchip that some people are getting put in their hand to make purchases, but did you know this microchip matches perfectly with prophecy in the Bible?
“He (the false prophet who deceives many by his miracles) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name…
You also may have heard of the legendary number “666” that people have been speculating for possibly thousands of years on what it actually means. This article shares something I haven’t seen before, and I don’t think there could be any better explanation for what it means to calculate 666. This is no hoax. Very fascinating stuff!
…Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666″ (Revelation 13:16-18 NKJV).
To see all the details showing why the Bible foretold of all these things, check out this article!
Article:
GOD is sending out His end time warning:
“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-11).
In the Islamic religion they have man called the Mahdi who is known as their messiah of whom they are waiting to take the stage. There are many testimonies from people online who believe this man will be Barack Obama who is to be the biblical Antichrist based off dreams they have received. I myself have had strange dreams about him like no other person. So much so that I decided to share this information.
He came on stage claiming to be a Christian with no affiliation to the Muslim faith…
“In our lives, Michelle and I have been strengthened by our Christian faith. But there have been times where my faith has been questioned — by people who don’t know me — or they’ve said that I adhere to a different religion, as if that were somehow a bad thing,” – Barack Obama
…but was later revealed by his own family members that he indeed is a devout Muslim.
So what’s in the name? The meaning of someones name can say a lot about a person. God throughout history has given names to people that have a specific meaning tied to their lives. How about the name Barack Obama? Let us take a look at what may be hiding beneath the surface…
“And He (Jesus) said to them (His disciples), ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven'” (Luke 10:18).
In the Hebrew language we can uncover the meaning behind the name Barack Obama.
Barack, also transliterated as Baraq, in Hebrew is: lightning
baraq – Biblical definition:
From Strongs H1299; lightning; by analogy a gleam; concretely a flashing sword: – bright, glitter (-ing, sword), lightning. (Strongs Hebrew word H1300 baraq baw-rawk’)
Barak ‘O’bamah, The use of bamah is used to refer to the “heights” of Heaven.
bamah – Biblical definition:
From an unused root (meaning to be high); an elevation: – height, high place, wave. (Strongs Hebrew word H1116 bamah baw-maw’)
The day following the election of Barack Obama (11/04/08), the winning pick 3 lotto numbers in Illinois (Obama’s home state) for 11/5/08 were 666.
Obama was a U.S. senator for Illinois, and his zip code was 60606.
Seek Jesus while He may be found…repent, confess and forsake your sins and trust in the savior! Jesus says we must be born again by His Holy Spirit to enter the kingdom of God…God bless!
