For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: When did the earth dry after the flood?

Here are the answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

On the first day of the first month.

Now it came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, that the water was dried up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground had dried up.” ( Genesis 8:13)

On the 27th day of the second month.

14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry” (Genesis 8:14)

For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: How long did the flood last?

Here are the answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

The flood lasted 40 days.

Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.” (Genesis 7:17)

The flood lasted 150 days.

The water prevailed upon the earth for 150 days.” (Genesis 7:24)

and the water receded steadily from the earth, and at the end of 150 days the water decreased.” (Genesis 8:3)

Here are the answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

For seven months or so.

In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat.” (Genesis 8:4)

For at least ten months.

The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.” (Genesis 8:5)
