Bible Contradiction? Where did Moses receive the Ten Commandments?

For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: Where did Moses receive the Ten Commandments?

Here are the answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

On Mount Sinai.

“When He had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.” (Exodus 31:18)

“So he cut out two stone tablets like the former ones, and Moses got up early in the morning and went up to Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and he took the two stone tablets in his hand.” (Exodus 34:4)

“Afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he commanded them to do everything that the Lord had spoken ^[a]to him on Mount Sinai.” (Exodus 34:32)

“These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the Lord established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses on Mount Sinai.” (Leviticus 26:46)

“These are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai.” (Leviticus 27:34)

“Then You came down on Mount Sinai, And spoke with them from heaven; You gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments.” (Nehemiah 9:13)

On Mount Horeb.

“These are the words of the covenant which the Lordcommanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He had made with them at Horeb.” (Deuteronomy 29:1)

“There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenantwith the sons of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt” (1 Kings 8:9)

“There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets which Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.” (2 Chronicles 5:10)

“Remember the Law of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.” (Malachi 4:4)
