Thanks, Jimmy. I enjoyed perusing Bill Roach’s “SAMPLE QUESTIONS FOR APOLOGETICS EXAM,” which just confirmed why I’m a Theology 101 type of guy. At the bottom, I noticed a link to another of Roach’s posts, “GREG BAHNSEN: PROTESTANT APOLOGETICS (OVER AND AGAINST THE CLAIMS OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM),” which was excellent reading. I admire Bahnsen’s outspoken stand on the 5 Solas and his refusal to compromise with Rome, unlike many/most of today’s most popular evangelical apologists. I see there are several audios on You Tube of Bahnsen defending the Gospel against the errors of Rome and ecumenism with the Vatican under the title: Dr. Greg Bahnsen: The Road to Rome; Was the Reformation Justified?, Parts 1,2,3, etc.
Greg Bahnsen is one of my personal heroes of the faith. I’m not sure if you are aware that he’s a theonomist but I think in other areas of his teachings I think there is a lot to gleam from. He doesn’t hold back from the truth and I’m glad that on youtube there is his road to Rome series (I need to listen to them myself!). Thanks for the heads up about the Youtube series!
Just finished listening to parts 2,3, & 4 (part 1 is missing for some reason and there’s some overlaps). Excellent! Have a few more to go.
Here’s a link to the first one, part 2. In this audio Bahnsen actually mentions the Christian Research Institute’s embrace of Catholicism, which we discussed just yesterday!
As an ex-Catholic who has accepted Christ, I am thrilled that an evangelical apologist “told it exactly like it is” regarding Rome, unlike most of today’s “big name” apologists. Bahnsen is completely new to me. A theonomist? Well, I can overlook that. I’m thinking most of the guys who leaned toward theonomy ended up embracing Rome because fighting the culture war was more important to them than right doctrine.
You’re the man.
Some teach and preach their man made church tradition bias. I call this prepositional exegetic preaching. It appears to be sound exegetics at first glance, but…..
