Back in July we did a three part outline series on how “We can know the words of the Old Testament.” There’s a total of 13 reasons given of why we can know and reconstruct what’s the content of the Old Testament.
The response to these posts have been overwhelming in terms of views and comments and feedback.
Since it is such an important topic I thought I make a post with a table of contents to them.
Here’s the table of contents:
We can know the words of the Old Testament Part 1
We can know the words of the Old Testament Part 2
We can know the words of the Old Testament Part 3
Thanks for listing these, Jimmy! I really appreciated the contents of these posts. We can have complete confidence in God’s Word!
You’re welcome! It’s amazing to learn of the details of how God providentially preserve His Word and the scribal practices! It took me a long time to write up these outline series and I hope they bless God’s people. What does your plan for Saturday look like?
I cut half the backyard (no bee stings!) and am now waiting for my wife to come home from swimming at the YMCA. We’re going to head to Pultneyville, a quaint little village on the shore of Lake Ontario about 40 minutes away. There’s a restaurant with patio seating right on the water that serves Lobster rolls. My wife really loves the place. What are you up to today?
Reall enjoyed those posts. I hadnt read much about the reliability of the OT before so learned a lot!
Thank you for reading this series! Originally I was going to do New Testament textual and manuscripts matter but then I notice that online there’s less materials on OT matters so this outline series was what I worked on instead. Thanks for the encouragement, I hope you have a blessed Saturday!
You’re onto something. Come to think of it there’s no Christian version of “Dan Wallace” with Textual Criticism. Makes me appreciate your series more I suppose.
What a neat series
This list is so helpful, thank you brother! I’m book marking it for some homeschool lessons.
Nice! I’ve actually had my kids sit in when I taught this and they did the interactive part of the lesson along with the adults to make a point of how we do textual criticism…I’m thinking maybe sometime next week I’ll load the audio for this three part series if it helps. Let us know if you modify it to make it more of a homeschool lessons, yeah? I do want to promote it if you make it more age appropriate!
Oh, please do upload the audio! That would be a great help. I might even be able to take it and make clips to go along with the lessons, if you’d like! I’m concerned about our homeschooling brothers and sisters in Christ with kiddos who have issues with traditional paper lessons. My dyslexia is really pretty mild, and since I grew up thinking it’s normal I can figure out the word in front of me even when my eyes play tricks and switch letters around. Actually, sometimes I do misunderstand what I’m reading and have to go back, but most have it far worse then I do. Not to mention those who can’t read due to eye sight issues. It might be helpful to have a visual and an audio aid for lessons. 😃
Excellent. TY
YW! God’s Word stands forever Amen?
Amen. And He never changes. His promses are true from eternity to eternity. Glory\o/
Oh wow! Super cool!
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
I reblogged this whole series, it helping me realize there were some things I had not realized I had not known! I share this now for the easy list of links.

[…] Employing textual Criticism doesn’t pose a problem since Christians believe that copies of manscripts can have scribal errors but in God’s providence we have so many manuscripts to piece what is the original content.
