This year I tried to put out more posts resolving Bible contradictions concerning the final week of Christ through His Ascension to add to the list I put out last year. It takes some time on my part to go through them to provide exegetically sound refutations; Lord willing I will add more to this lists next year. See my post I wrote on why refuting Bible Contradictions Takes Time. As of Resurrection Sunday 2018 I have responded to 22 alleged Bible contradictions that took place during the final week of Jesus’ life up to His Ascension. These posts are arranged below roughly in chronological order with additions added after last Easter labeled “NEW” in red:
- On what did Jesus ride into Jerusalem?
- Did Jesus forewarn the apostles of his death and resurrection? NEW
- When did Satan enter Judas?
- Did Judas identify Jesus with a kiss?
- Was Jesus taken to Caiaphas or Annas first?
- When did Jesus receive his beating?
- Who put the robe on Jesus?
- Who carried Jesus’ cross? NEW
- What did the sign over Jesus’s head say?
- Did both thieves revile Jesus?
- Can thieves go to heaven?
- Where did the women watching the crucifixion stand?
- What were the last words of Jesus? NEW
- What did the Centurion call Jesus when he died?
- Did Jesus go to heaven after he died but before his ascension? NEW
- Who buried Jesus?
- Who bought the potter’s field? NEW
- What did Judas do with the silver? NEW
- When did the women (or woman) arrive at the sepulchre? NEW
- Whom did the women see at the tomb? NEW
- Did Jesus say he would always be with his disciples?
- Did Jesus ascend from Bethany or Mount Olivet? NEW

This is just excellent Jim, thank you!
You’re welcome, God bless you Bruce! May we have a joyful yet sober reflection on Christ this Good Friday
Thanks, Jim! Good resource and I know you put a lot of work and love into these. I’m curious, while working on these have you dealt with a Bible “contradiction”/difficulty in which you said, I’m just going to have to wait until I get to Heaven to find out the answer?
Good question Tom. I’m sure there are some like that but none come to mind at the moment. The closest thing I can think of is probably the one with Judas’ purchasing the field that I just did but then I was pleasantly surprised that paying attention first to the Greek verbs yielded results. I can imagine there are something alleged contradictions that will require I go to heaven since there are some missing information that is needed to resolve an alleged Bible contradiction that we don’t have as a finite beings limited with the necessarily data. At the same time there have been many instances too where I began looking at one of the alleged contradictions that at first glance looks very difficult and by the grace of God through wrestling with finding the text’s meaning there were resolution. Actually I find the exercise of trying to find the meaning of the text is a better goal than trying to first resolve a contradiction which can lead to premature answers. Certainly there will be a Deuteronomy 29:29 moment eventually. I hope that answers the question? It’s been a long night and early morning for me lol
Thanks! I really appreciate your hard work in addressing these “contradictions.” As believers read through the Bible and come across difficulties they may think, “Huh?” for a second and just keep plowing ahead. So it’s very valuable to have a brother knowledgeable in the Word and the original Hebrew and Greek to go back and analyze these. Hope you have a blessed day!
Good post Jim, this is an excellent resource
Thank you brother, I hope and pray it would be a blessing to people looking for answers. I hope you have a reflective day this Good Friday, reflecting on Christ’s incredible sacrifice to save us sinners from our sins.
It seems to me that the burden of proof is not a priority of skeptics. Therefore, they can deliver a quick conclusion of what they want to be true in an attempt to throw believers off balance. It takes longer for a believer to research and counter such attacks, because accuracy is far more important to us. Ironic, isn’t it; that we are made out to be illogical and don’t base our beliefs on hard fact, when it’s actually the skeptics who aren’t doing a complete research on The Scriptures they try to refute.
Excellent point brother. I totally agree with you. It takes a long time for me to begin with the verses in the original language and then to the context of the verses. My main goal is to understand the text first and not give a knee-jerk solution to the alleged problem. It takes time. Judging from the list from the Skeptic Annotated Bible which list I am responding to on our blog, most of it is just fluff with the intent as you said ” an attempt to throw believers off balance.” Brother, please pray for those people searching for answers that land on this page from search engines or other means.
How do explain the three hour solar eclipse seen from all over the world?
