For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Praying with those joining the military.
Last week Sunday we posted “Praying with those who are graduating and anxious with the future.” In the past I have posted a few posts about those in your church leaving off for college. I thought those who might be joining the military in your church should equally be prayed for; if not even more so.
Everything since so turbulent these days politically and morally. I wouldn’t want to serve during these times where’s there’s a lot of ambiguity and questions about the direction the United States is going. I’m glad I did served in the military in an earlier time period. How much more so we pray for those who do join the military in these times. I normally do not encourage guys to join; those that do I often have very serious questions for them. Still I do appreciate those who are serving and have served.
Pray with them.
Pray for them.
How should you pray?
Ask them what to pray for. Ask them about any anxieties and concerns. Ask them when they ship off to basic training. Ask them if they feel ready. Ask what they look forward to. If you don’t know specifics of what they are talking about, ask. And let their conversations shape how you pray for them.

Thanks for the wonderful suggestion. This is so very important. Thanks for your service and sensitivity.
Shalom!
They will need the prayer.
When I first saw the post I thought it said ministry I guess because young people with a calling have been on my mind lately.
Ah I guess ministry is on your mind! I’m praying today would be a blessed Lord’s day for you and that young people with a calling are some of the people you would be ministering to!!
Young men entering ministry have been on my mind a bit lately.
I pray you had a good Sunday and will have a blessed week.

It’s never been an easy road to travel but God is on the road with his children no matter where they are. I have a good friend whose grandson is into nuclear( aka subs) He is always in my prayers
Aww that is awesome that you pray for your friends’ grandson. I am sure your friend is blessed to hear about your prayers?
Praying. When do y’all leave?!
In the middle of the week! Will let you know details privately! How is your Lord’s day going today???
It’s a beautiful day! How’s yours?!
In prayer.
Thanks for your prayers! I hope your day is a good one Maw Maw!
Love you, Grand.

Thanks for the good exhortation! Yes, the world is changing (declining) and “things” aren’t as they once were. Similarly, if a young person wanted to be a policeman these days, I could think of a few reasons why they should reconsider.
Yeah I can see reasons to consider for why one should reconsider with law enforcement today. We have one kid in our church that was thinking about this and a deacon and I plan to talk to him about it not opposing him but also for things to consider as a young man. Going tangent I imagine your son joining the military as a parent most don’t think of their sons going career or did you know that was his desire?
Both of our sons were drifting after high school, didn’t know what they wanted to do. We encouraged both to join the Air Force but we had no idea the youngest would stay in this long.
May they all be blessings as they serve in the military.
Amen that should be our prayer among other things. Appreciate this Frank!
These young soldiers do need our prayers everyday. But I prefer if they joined the army and learned to be disciplined than to stay home and get into trouble. Thanks for highlighting this.
A wonderful thought, Jim!
Prayer is one of our most precious tools. Thanks for sharing this encouragement.
