As I’m going over this with a group of guys from my church I thought the following questions might be helpful for individuals and small groups to facilitate discussions and learning based upon the apologetics’ book “Ultimate Proof of Creation” by Jason Lisle. It is a book that teaches Presuppositional apologetics that engages apologetics at the level of worldview. Cornelius Van Til was instrumental in beginning this form of apologetics and others have developed and applied it.
For discussion questions for previous chapters click on the following:
The questions in this post will be for chapter 8 of the book. Each question is followed by page numbers in parenthesis where the answer can be found.
Chapter 9
- 1. What are three bad answers and one good answer to the question “How do you know that your ultimate standard (t) is true?” (155-157)
- What are two things to remember concerning circular reasoning? (157)
- What is a good type of argument for good circularity? (158)
- What makes the Christian worldview and non-Christian circular worldview different? (158-160)
- Why is a nonbeliever unable to be consistent with his or her worldview? (160)
- What are two points that responds to the argument of how do we have a rational worldview before the Bible was written? (160-161)
- What are right and wrong views of the relationship of faith and reason? (161-162)
- What does Jason Lisle have to say about uniformity and uniformitarianism? (162-163)
- What are the responses to those who deny miracles because of uniformitarianism? (164-165)
- What illustrations did you find helpful in this chapter?
May the Lord bless those studying Presuppositional apologetics!

Thanks again for the reblog! How’s your walk been and your health Vincent?
Yankee Whiskey Bravo and my health is great, all things considered. Jogging/walking is also better than anticipated, praise God 🙌🙏
Thanks for these discussion questions. When I re-read the book, I’m going to use these at the end of chapter.
Nice! Our little group at church that is reading this is going to go over it this Saturday. How are you doing by the way?
I’m doing good, thanks! Little blessings here and there throughout each day. I’m currently reading a book about the early history of Moody Bible Institute (written by an unbeliever) that’s turning out better than I expected. Tonight I’m having dinner with a very old friend, an unbeliever, who is having a lot of marital problems. He’s been through one divorce already. Would you please say a prayer for his salvation? I’ve witnessed to him about the Lord several times in the past. The Lord gave me an idea for the guest post for your blog so I plan on writing it that this weekend. How are things going with you over there on the West coast?
Wow I’m going to be praying for him tonight concerning his marriage and his salvation! What a privilege that is to have him over! Here at the West Coast I’ll have an evangelistic meet up with someone after dinner. Humanly speaking from what I can tell he’s open to hear what I have to say. I’m looking foward to your future guest post too by the way!
Thanks, Jim! I’ll be praying for your meeting tonight, too!
Hi Pastor Jim. I am familiar with the author of this book as I am currently “discussing” this issue daily on a Facebook page called “Creationism.” Atheists, Theistic Evolutionists, Old Earth Creationists, YECs, and all sorts of characters turn up in these conversations.
I am wondering about the title of this book. As the honest ones who take the evolution position don’t use the word “proof,” I’m wondering if those who take Genesis literally should. The word being used these days is “evidence.”
On the other side, a typical person with an “educated” evolution position will call his/her view “The theory of Evolution” when they have no intention of thinking of it as a real theory. I have a problem with this. Scientists shouldn’t be able to change the meanings of English words because it confuses people. They will not say they have proven evolution but that they are 97% (or some other undocumented number) sure so the theory is actually beyond the point where it should be questioned. I have commented to more than one evolutionist that their position should be called “The Reality of Evolution.” I think that would better let readers know what these proponents of evolution really think.
I take a Y.E.C. view and we are in the minority at least in the “discussion” and I think among professing Christians. In fact, we are scoffed at quite a bit. Theistic Evolution is popular, some now calling it Evolutionary Creationism.
A few months ago, one of my “opponents” published this article to my satisfaction. I have used this article a number of times to remind these scientists of their limitations, even though I don’t agree with its ridiculous conclusion.

Since I’m actively involve in the discussion on this issue with highly educated Darwinists, I thought I’d add a few thoughts.
God’s blessings…
Chris I appreciated that link to Forbes on the limitation of science, or specifically scientific “proofs.” I commend you for your evangelism and apologetics on Facebook concerning evolution and creationism and that you are bold to take the position you take with YEC which is also my position. As you are very much aware the term “proof” can be quite controversial concerning the role of certainty with one’s evidences. I do think Lisle’s discussion of defending the faith at the level of the worldview and precondition for intelligibility is in my opinion the closest thing to a proof for Christianity but I feel I must add the caveat that I see there is more to proof and evidences beyond the immediate domain of Bacon’s model of science. God bless you Chris and all that you do! By the way I had to fish out one of your previous comment from spam filter earlier, WordPress is weird sometimes…
“I feel I must add the caveat that I see there is more to proof and evidences beyond the immediate domain of Bacon’s model of science.”
Indeed, Pastor Jim, and a very good point. God has “proved” Himself many times in my life and I’ve observed the same in the lives of others. This type of “proof” is scoffed at by certain scientists who think they are smarter than the God who communicated to us through the powerful words of scripture.
I do think that a scientist’s concept of “proof,” leaves no room for “proof” of Christianity. At the same time, science is limited by the puny mind of man.
You and I are definitely in the minority with our YEC view. You should see the grief our kind get on the discussion sites. It is quite amazing really. I will not go to certain sites because it is impossible to have a simple back and forth without the sarcasm and name calling. I have found one Facebook Site called “Creationism” which has some good rules of behavior and is monitored more than one kind of thinker. One admin at least is a YEC. Anyways, thank you for your kind words and it’s hard for me to believe with all you do that you check your spam filter. Thank you for alerting me. I am still having a few commenting problems so I am almost exclusively using my Reader to comment.
May God bless your weekend!
